ASUS EAH3850 Trinity Has Three RV670 Chips

Here's what happens when two GPUs aren't enough. The latest ASUS EAH3850 Trinity works with three mobile RV670 chips in CrossFireX and is cooled by a combination of aluminum heatsinks, copper heatpipes and an enclosed water cooling system. The three 55nm GPUs all have their dedicated memory and make use of a 256-bit memory interface. Featuring one 8-pin power connector, the Trinity also has four DVI connectors. The card's clocks and actual availability haven't been decided yet.

Weirdness...

Yeah I'd agree with that. Crazy bastard Asus, kudos on the whole, we've got 3 cards on one. Still, can't help but think it's rather pointless.

Now what I'd want to see would be dual GPUs on an AGP card, now that would be interesting. ^^ Yeah I know AGP bus blah blah blah but go eat di....

They need to make them MXM modules instead so you can upgrade them. That would be sick!

Ridiculous. Inbuilt water cooling system required for a single (albeit tripple core) GPU card.

Just goes to show that GPU's have got a LONG WAY TO GO to get to better power efficiency.

I guess we have to wait for another die shrink. And that wont be for a while

The Intel LV team needs to share a few tips...

I bet this will be like the dual 7800GT they made, it will be really cool with terrorable driver support and will never go below $800. and I want one really bad.

No, sadly thats never going to happen. Its not economical for video card makers to breakdown videocards. It creates to many components to be bought, the card would not be able to maintain series of parts like cpus/motherboards. It would make itself obsolete.
Its a great thought though.

Have to say but that thing looks incredibly retarded. It's just not tidy like the Gx2 or X2 and what about people who don't have water cooling.

Im pretty sure the enclosed water cooling is included. at least thats what I got out of it. The GX2 is not all that tidy, if you want that, put a plastic box over it and it looks the same.

Exactly the least they could have done was put a box over it and some people e.g me don't have water pumps, radiators etc unless that all comes with it.

If I do end up getting one (I will never have the funds for one though) that just means mine will be better than everyone else's after I mod it
I will just call it room to mod.

I dont have any of the above either, im assuming we will be able to close the loop if its not included, im certainly not buying water cooling just for the card.

Well suppose it could specifically be aimed at people with water cooling but i wonder what the cost will be with 3 gpu plus cooler maybe more than its performance
