ASUS GeForce 9800 GTX Pictured
TechConnect Magazine has acquired some pictures and specs of ASUS’ upcoming EN9800GTX/HTDP/512M graphics card, which is expected to be released on April 1st. It will run at what are thought to be NVIDIA’s reference clocks of 675MHz core and 2200MHz memory, with 128 stream processors at 1688MHz. This version will come equipped with 512MB GDDR3 memory, with a price tag somewhere below $350.

if the coolers were any better you would be paying a hell of a lot more for the card methinks

It could just be me, but with all of the nvidia card releases lately, I dont really see anything huge or different. Not even clock speeds or the number of stream processors....

$350 seems a bit high... Before the $170 3870 maybe, but that price is just way too high.

This makes me think of the difference between having a 1900xtx and thinking about upgrading to the 1950xt when the 2900xt is just aroud the corner. Its just a diff name with very much something similar under the hood so-to-speak

not quite so because the 2900 was twice as fast as any previous ones that had held the lead from atis camp.

I was refering to the 2900 being "nxt gen", so what im saying is that its like upgrading to something you think is going to be topend, only for a new next gen card to come out, like the HD4000+ for example

All this card is, is an 8800GTS 512MB with higher clocks. I think I'll stick with my 8800GTX for now, even the 9800GX2 doesn't impress me that much for the price. I can grab a second 8800GTX for like $320...

Sadly the gfx industry is at a standstill atm cause they are too anxious to wait and release a card with actual improvement.

256-bit, 16 ROPs? I'm not impressed.

Meh, just get the 8800GTS G92 instead, more or less the same card. Save yourself the extra $100.

you guys do understand they have tweaked the core from the G92 in the 8800s correct? hence why the lower clocked GX2 outperforms a pair of GTS in sli

This 9800gtx is to the 8800GTS as 8800Ultra was to the 8800GTX...

well the 3870 cant stand up to an 8800GT priced @ 200 or to the 160 9600GT. To be honest, this new card could tie the 3870 X2, as it is faster than the Ultra and the x2 is only marginally faster than the Ultra, that would just be wicked for Nvidia to tie ATI's flagship with a single chip solution. Then we all know who gets the last laugh.
