9800GX2 Quad-SLI / XFX 780i

hello all, dose anybody know if you can run 9800GX2 in Quad-SLI on the XFX 780i motherboard or is just the 790i boards?

It should work on any Sli board but I would just use one until drivers mature.

No I don't think you can use tri sli because it is lacking the second sli bridge You wouldn't notice the performance differance anyway.

You would notice a difference in 1920x1200 and greater in Crysis. But everything else would be overkill.

Too bad drivers don't support it and it doesn't have the second tab hardware wise.

I am about to get my second 9800GX2 for my 780i gaming rig.

2 is overkill but I doubt crysis could use 4 gpu's effectively without a patch

It does pretty well At 1920x1200 at very high and above.

AA doesn't work though.

Nope. Two 9800 GX2's get 43 frames with a 3Ghz Quad Intel at 1920x1200 at "very high" and 4GBs of ram in 64bit Crysis.
It will probably be able to do better with the next driver update.

Thats $1,200 USD of graphics cards though.

In NC cigarettes aren't that expensive. Probably because the majority of them are made not to far from my house.
