Hmm..wonder if that'd work on the Sonic PCB or not? From naked pics I've seen they appear to be different designs which would have me assume it probably wouldn't work.

I'm looking forward to your OC Goat!

Here are some 3dm06 results between 9600 stock and oc'd, didn't do anything special aside from turn off anti-virus, close the sidebar...that was it, ran them both on the same boot too.

The rest of my rig's OC was not changed, and is what I am running and have set in my System Specs.

Also here's my links to GPU-z Stock and OC:

more benches

I'm downloading World in Conflict and crysis for benching and will add them to the list. If there are any other benches, I'm open to suggestions. The benches must be free for all users.

Some cards have hdmi output so benches for htpc users may be usefull.

I think you should add what cooler they are on/stock/ait/water and so on.

Just my 2 cents

voltage

Could everyone that has measured the factory voltages (and post mod if applicable) on their 9600GT please submit the data to be added to the list. Thanks... should be a nice list when we are done. I will also add links to the mods for easy reference.

TrackMania Nations United (the recently released free online racing game) has a bench in it...I average around 46.5 FPS @ 1440x900 with everything maxed out (AA set to X8 tho, I haven't tried higher) and all feature checkboxes ticked. I will post screens later...just figured that may be another interesting game for benchmarking...seems to be pretty power hungry when the goodies are cranked up.

I'll post DX10 WiC and Crysis scores eventually.

I dunno where to check for voltage on my Palit card, but I may do some digging eventually...plus it's got the Zalman like cooler...which it came with stock. For cooling, it should have it's own section, maybe mods can be a primary section with subsections like Cooling, Voltage, Bios under it...just a thought! Thanks for the efforts Skitzo, it's much appreciated!

I can take some pics...actually there's a review out there where they tear down the cover/cooler and take pics of the front and back of the Sonic 9600gt...I'll see if I can dig up a link after I get home. Only nice day of the week up here...gotta get some fishin' in!

more benching programs

I've been looking into more benching programs and these have been brought to my attention; some may be useful. Remember, we are testing a graphics card and it has more uses than gaming. It could be useful to see how it stacks up in other areas as well. I undertsand there may some functionality problems depending on user hardware, so lets discuss what would be most applicable.

PT Boats:Nights of the Sea Benchmark
http://www.techpowerup.com/downloads...Benchmark.html

Call of Juarez DX10 Benchmark
http://www.techpowerup.com/downloads...Benchmark.html

Cinebench v10

ScienceMark
http://www.techpowerup.com/downloads..._21032005.html

TrackMania Nations United

I'm not familiar with any of these ... yet.

can't wait to find out where you get it stable Sol.
Thanks Largon, Great work on the guide. I'd like for this thread to have all the 9600GT data it can. Sweet addition... I feel a number of volt mods coming...

gpu v-mod

well thanks to Largon's efforts, my v-mod should be easy. It is already configured for 1.15 V, so I only have to choose a voltage and make the appropriate bridges. Thanks again Largon, great article.

I don't believe it does either. There are other benches listed in post 1 with links (if there are problems with the links let me know). I am waiting for input on the benches we should include and we have to discuss baseline settings as well. All input welcome...

im not gonna lie though at 1.5v i was 71ºC idle but i hit 840core 2200 shader stable for about 5min till OCP kicked in their is currently no fix as we cant get the data sheet for the phase regulation chip which means we cant get rid of OCP until we know which 1 of the 48pins to ground.

i have no idea my card is flucuating between 1.25 -1.3 so maybe im tripping im not sure at what exact voltage it kicks in though.
