All of your links are broken. We can suggest decent parts for you, not necessary for the links anyways

Well, there's this debate going on about the benefits of Quads over Duals, future-proofing and such.
I like to break it down into a couple different categories. - Quad > Dual : e-peen and benchmarks (or the 2% of people that could possibly use 4 cores at once) - Quad = Dual : gaming and multitasking (90% of TPU members) - Quad < Dual : webbrowsing and office tasks I would save 200$ on the CPU and get a E4700 for 160$. Use the extra to get a better monitor, or at least save up for one. 17-inches doesn't do that 8800gts justice.

It will but there really isn't a reason do do an x38 unless your doing crossfire. A cheap p35 will work just as well with the cpu and cost far less. If you want the x38 you should go for 2 3870s or something like that. Otherwise, do p35.
Like perhaps this one: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813128059 Also, what brand psu are you getting. 500w is fine if its a solid brand, but if not you got problems. And I would agree with silverel, if you only are using a 17in monitor, an 8800gts will be overkill. 9600gt or 8800gs or 3850 would be the better choice. If you are doing video editing, I would say stick with the proc you got, however, if you get that your going to need to get a very cheap dual core or celeron to put in first and update the bios, cause chances are whatever mb you get it will come with a bios that is too old to support the q9450. If you don't wanna deal with that, get the q6700 when its on clubit for $300 (but only then) or the q6600. They will be pop in and go. Sorry if that was too much info too quickly. If you have a question about any of that just let me know. Last edited by farlex85; Apr 17, 2008 at 06:18 PM. |

i want a new cpu because my cpu is bottlenecking my card at 1284x1024. i might get the p35 but i don't want to update the bios since I never done that before.

If you can fill out your system specs in the user cp (your current specs) that will help. If you already have a dual core on hand it isn't terribly difficult to update the bios w/ it. If you really don't wanna mess w/ that though, like I said, you will want to go w/ a q6600 or q6700.

They want to do video editing, a process that would benefit greatly from 4 cores.
