Few Quick Q's for Friend's Build
Okay, so my friend wants a gaming rig, but it needs to be somewhat cheap. I'm thinking around 750 for the whole tower, sans OS. What I have so far:
![]() Not Pictured: e8400 from Microcenter (hoping for an E0). Heatsink: Prolly Xigmatek HDT1283 I want to go Crossfire because I have a 4850 that I can pass on to him when I upgrade, as a birthday gift or summat like that. Problem is, will the PSU support Crossfire (maybe overclocked) 4850s and an OCed e8400? I'd preferably choose a PSU that has a combo deal with the P5Q Pro. PSU Candidates:

I like your choices! I would go with a Corsair 750w if he ever wants to go crossfire.

persoanally, while the 650 seasonic is probably enough for the x-fire 4850's, I'd probably go for the 750 watt corsair, just to make sure.

Very nice selection. I am not a huge fan of the P5Q pro, but I stiil have a nice OC off mine. I agree for the 750W corsair if he ever goes crossfire.

Update time.
Okay, the original build was a little too expensive for my friend. We're looking at PSUs, and if you had to, I mean HAD TO pick between these two, which would it be? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817371015 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817371001 Last edited by RandomSunchips; Sep 29, 2008 at 01:17 AM. What about this one. It's a better option than the Antecs. You could sell the included 4GB drive that comes with it, which would make up the difference in price.
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817341002 One other option. Here's the Corsair 750 for a cheaper price, including free shipping and a rebate: http://www.zipzoomfly.com/jsp/Produc...tCode=10007112

The thing is, you get 40 off the combo when you buy a trio 650watt and an Antec 300 (the case he's getting). It's kinda suckering him in. |

P5q Pro. Pic is in the OP. Not sure if you can see it clearly.

thats almost what I have running right now. I like what you did. The 750w for sure, just my preference there....and good luck getting the EO. I didnt get it, but my brother did...he isnt into OC'ing stuff so I might switch with him.

UPDATE: Parts have been ordered. We still went with the antec truepower trio. It's a Seasonic OEM, so I'm not too worried. Ram was switched to a 2gb set of ddr2 800 gskills (the red ones) processor and mobo are e8400 and Asus P5q Pro. There was a deal so we went with that, hoping that the Egg would send us an E0. Graphics card is a 4850 that I'm looking into right now.
The only concern now is modding the tricools with red LEDs.
