FOXCONN Launches BLACKOPS Intel X48 Enthusiast Motherboard

FOXCONN today officially launched the long awaited second BLACKOPS motherboard in the Quantum Force series. Based on the Intel X48 chipset and packed with many unique features for extreme overclocking, BLACKOPS comes out of the box with 4 different chipset cooling options: regular air cooling, water cooling and even LN2 or dry ice. BLACKOPS has been optimized for Intel Core 2 Extreme, Core 2 Quad and Core 2 Duo processors up to 1600MHz FSB, and supports a maximum of 8GB Dual Channel DDR3 1600/1333/1066/800MHz memory. With 3x PCIe x16 2.0 slots (2x x16, 1x x4 bandwidth), and CrossFireX support, it also features 8 phase digital PWM, and a new SONAR daughter card based on the Realtek ALC885 8 channel audio chip. The BLACKOPS motherboard will be available in retail channels this month, priced at around US $400. For further information check out this page.

Nice and all, but wow $400 is not really catered to the "mass" market.

I have to say that it looks like 1 sweet mobo tho but time will tell if its actually any good - im very suspicious about this as FOXCONN were orginally an OEM only market that have recently been branching out a little & now their releasing enthusiast gear??? its like i was born yesterday or something - obviously I dunno how much effort theyve put into the mobo, wether the parts they used are good parts but for that price the capacitors better be made out of titanium or diamond encrusted or something

who knows if DFi or ASUS will sh!t on Foxconns parade 2moro :P R.O.G FTW

At least there upping there game a bit foxconn always made good solid boards some even overclocked mildly well but they were pretty basic the new offerings look pretty good compared to the high end.

dude LN2 Stock!! OMG!! I heard that the reason that Foxconn has been doing more nd more enthusiast/extremeist stuff is because alot of people that left DFI went to Foxconn namely bios programmers

The northbridge looks like a box with an uncovered cover attached to a chainsaw.

An uncovered cover?

A blackops motherboard shouldn't have any color. Hell, even the Green Berets were almost all black.

Up next: FOXCONN Myrmidon.

It can be used without LN2, see the rubber O ring is for the seal for the waterblock.

Foxconn is not to be underestimated

Competitor from gigabyte, which comes with a CPU LN2 duct: and optional waterblock:

In case folks don't know it "Shamino" who is one of the worlds best overclockers is now involved with Foxconn. They will undoubtably become one of the best makers of enthusiast computer technology.

And one of the most overpriced .

I like that block on the NB but what kind of nb cooler for a water loop can fit there? Or does that part come with the mobo.

Sounds nice...price-wise, is it a good decision? Probably not. Even to the enthusiast market.

I like their design for the northbridge. It gives you the option of either doing passive cooling, fan cooling, watercooling (via removable w/c cap) and possibly LN2 (but a northbridge probably doesnt need that). Its pretty sweet that they include a LN2 funnel for the processor and what is essentially a oc bench. Now lets see if they can bring these kind of innovations to the nforce 700 series.

I know they make the board for Dell's XPS h2c series and they seem OK. As always the OC capacities are reduced but Dell has included an auto OC in the BIOS and it holds its ground.

I'll be waiting for the tests of this one after the Mars that seems quite nice too.......
