settings for my new z-5500's

Hi guys! Just wondering if any of you have suggestions on how to set up my new z-5500 speakers. They are working fine, just not sure what effect I should be using and any other settings I should know about. Some games sound flat and some right on the money.Right now I have them on 6ch direct, thats the only way I seem to get full 5.1 surround on them. Am I missing something? I am running them through my x-fi extreme music on the ol' 1/8 stereo jacks. I know it has co/ax and optical but I'm not doing that right now. Maybey in the future I'll pick up a sound card with optical.

Thanks in advance!!

just card it get some amplifiers hooked up to control the waves and if your good enough with that kind of set up your set to go on anything. a guy who was renting out a room downstairs had it hooked up all around his room with his amplifier and he had a box also which made it slap real hard.

setting it up to what you want shouldn't be that hard i've seen people with them and they seem to be working well but i don't know to what standards. new sound card = win and optical amplifiers and whatnot helps also.

Setting your speakers is only your work, we're not going to listen to your speakers so it's not right to ask us for settings. You're doing just fine with analogue connections to your X-Fi. Taking the signal through optical will lead to worst sound in this scenario because the Z-5500 uses very old DACs. The only possible upgrade for your system is Auzentech X-Fi Prelude on analogue.
