Awesome review T_ski as always.
Did you find that the installation of the rubber fan holders into the fan itself a pain in the ass? When I got my HDTS 1283 in March and I went to put it together, that was the biggest pain for me. Getting the thin ends into the fan mounting holes. Other than that, it made great contact with my cpu. I did the same check you all do when you are doing your tests. On this model, I like the additional heatpipe and also the 2mm extra diameter on the pipes. This should allow for a tad bit lower temperatures compared to its brother. On my oc, Mine runs idle at around 29c (according to cpu temp and software readings) On load, its around 41C. I like the white LEDs on here. Id prefer a tad better more powerful fan than what Xigmatek usually includes, but it gets the job done. One major beef I have, and really caught on to yesterday, is when you mount the cooler, it doesnt have a way for you to mount it with the air blowing out the back of the case. With the cooler I have, its blowing down onto the bottom of the case, granted I have a fan attached on the outside of my window side to bring in fresh air (the original HDTS 1283 is too tall to have it on the inside) but that can only help so much, especially given I got one intake and one outtake fan (big gripe about the Sigma Luna W case.) Other than that, this looks a tad better with flow, though it doesnt have the spoiler to direct some of the airflow on the mosfets and such.

The fan is the achilles heel of the cooler, I have to say...

It's not a bad fan really, there could just be a better one there. The biggest problem for me was first, putting the robber holders into the fan holes, then putting the cooler on with the AM2 bracket retention mechanism. That made me think I was gonna break either the bracket or the cooler or the retention bar itself or even my mobo.

I think i will set up water cooling first then get TEC later on. Because i have to have water anyways so why not get it first then get a TEC.
EDIT: this is the TEC i am thinking http://www.frozencpu.com/products/24...tml?tl=g30c105 EDIT AGAIN: sorry for spaming the thread

Keep an eye out for the "today only" stuff as I got one a few weeks ago with 5 quid off that price. I kinda wish I'd waited though now.

I'm planing to go water, but I'll try anything Air first... I don't have a CPU that requires to much volts, and I tend to keep it low 24/7.

Nice Review, but would have been nice if you had included other coolers than Intel stock? Its hard to compare?? For an example, I would want to know if it cools better than my current TR 120 Xtreme??

Naw Gam, I wasnt mad, was just putting out there my experiences with the cooler.
@Cold, thats a worthwhile temp difference though. If I ever get the galls to take it out and get a new fan, Ill look into it. The fan I have on the Xigma now (the stock one) isnt loud at all. In fact, the loudest fan is on my HIS IceQ3 HD 3870. Noise doesnt really bother me though. If it cools, that is awesome. I would like for them to create a different mounting mechanism so that we can install the cooler facing towards the back to keep the airflow in line.

The Gx2 fan at 100% (I run it 24/7 there) is not even as loud as the two Kaze's ... But, I do like them. My next step is to just buy a Delta fan and see how it is! I'd just have to get my fan controller on it! lol

Yeah I hear ya. As I said I dont mind noise, Id rather hear a little noise than lose life of my components. This cooler here is definitely top notch. I noticed on Petras that Sunbeamtech/Tuniq has a Direct Heat Pipe cooler out now.

Wareagle: I was thinking of fans, and went to Petra's Tech Shop.. I really like the Sunbeamtech does look sweet and Frostytech gave it #1 stats... But, I think I'm still going to go with the Xigmatek one.. The Sunbeam has "paperclip" like hooks for the fans.. No thank you really... But, I am going to grab up two of these fans!!
Then another two scythe fans...
