COD 4 - Poor If You Ask Me . . .

recently had to reinstall COD:4 due to some sound issues. Anywho, nowhere does it say that you have to back your status up! As in rank in multiplayer?! If you ask me, having to keep a backup of an ONLINE profile is pathetic and very poor on activisions part. If Blizzard can keep a bloody profile of a few WoW characters, im sure that activision can have a database to keep your online profiles, so you have to log in each time you select multiplayer?!

to me COD 4 is a peice of crap, the online is soo easy all you do is just run around and nade spam, at least in CoD 2 it was a little harder to kill people but if 4 it dosent even put up a challange, the SP on the other hand is great, but MP sucks!...

back to cod2 for me..

i quite like cod4, it all comes down to who you play against, yeah some servers suck ass big time, and some have great players who know how to work in a team... nade spams shit me to no end but ah well i just do it back....

i got a lil annoyed with having to back up my MP account. but why i assume it isnt stored online is that you MP account work in both online play and lan play. also it dose get a little boring after unlocking some golden guns and doing the sam thing over and over, so then it can be time to start back at rank 1 again and have some real challenges again...


P.S. i wish they would release some new maps the old ones get quite boring after some time

I find it odd that your MP account isn't stored on thier servers? Wouldn't that make things way too easy to hack and cheat? I've been eyeballing this game for a while now and I'm still waiting for it to come down in price.

It comes down to what you do, who you play with and what tactics you wanna use. There's no such thing as a game everybody likes, I personally enjoy CoD4, especially clan matches. Nade spamming is only so good when the opponents are more capable though...and there are cheaters like any other online FPS game anymore, but it's still a fun game imo.

To each their own in the end, I actually made a post over at GPU forums and there have been a few threads here about backing up your Player profile data for CoD4...I lost mine back in December when I was ignorant enough not to pay attention to everyone telling me I should back it up lol! Live and learn I suppose...Google and friends are damn great resources tho!

Now that maps are being made for it, it might be worth keeping around, but after the initial single player stint, and a month or so of learning to absolutley donkey punch dominate people, it's not really enjoyable.

Hardcore made is a somewhat saving grace, yet even that is littered with jump shooters, insta proners, airstrike lockers, nade spammers and people who probably don't even know where the safety is on half the guns they're using in the game.

CoD4 is awesome. the only cheap part is the grenade launchers. god I hate those damn things...they're a grenade that doesnt have to wait to go off. so lame

i to hate how it doesn't back up your online profile (it wouldn't be so bad except you can only use half way decent weapons after playing MP for so long) after i lost it i didn't even bother trying to get all my crap back, that and nade spamming are the flaws with it in my opinion, it is an awesome game dont get me wrong but it was to short and the endless spawning enemies, i mean come on i thought games moved past that crap
i dont care about rank or anything just finally getting a good gun then loosing it

love that game especially when you unlock ragtime mode after you beat it

Its easy to back up just copy the players folder and save it. The only thing I see already wrong with it is the maps are getting old quick

You can change your rank offline anyways if you know how. Some people just decide not to cheat. The game is awesome, and if you keep playing you'll notice certain ways to do better.

well it is easy to back up files it would be nice to have them online in case something does go wrong and you HD fails or something along those lines, i mean WoW does it why couldn't they do it to it doesn't take up that much space, or they could at least give you the option to back them up online

i think u sucks, u know why i have played it out in 3 hours and i still like it i run my own clan DragonForce Clan Germany and i run my own server ranked & dedicated there is allways whinners like u if u dont like the game why did u buy it at all go suck on a lollipop or so and let the rest in peace cod4 is the most played game in this time

he just said the multi sucked, not the single, which really should be the reason to buy a game also you dont need to insult the guy because he doesnt like all aspects of the game you love

Oh well, I still love the game, even with it's little quirks...all the good points more than make up for the few little nit-pickin issues most have with the game...I loved it so much I reviewed it for Gamepowerup! a while back. Was my first review in a while, but I'm still proud of it.

suppose the server goes down, your SOL if the account is lost, id rather have control over my account than some remote server.

I liked it but I stopped playing after I reformatted because no one told me the god damn saves were computer based. That totally pissed me off and I stopped player after that. Other than that its a good game.

btw that is a great review i can see why your proud of it, tbh the single player campaign was great it had its quirks but it hooked me, one of the few games to do so in a while, i will say this cod4 at a lan is some of the most fun i've had, you get tp hear such interesting swear words and its not cheap nade spamming, although once i moved over to the internet version of MP i quickly lost interest to the point where i wont even consider playing it anymore, and the fact that i would have to earn back all my weapons didn't help much

usually with nade spammers, i dont care cause i shoot them anyway with the M16A4 silenced, i havent gotten killed to where its annoying from nade spammers, usually hand gernades catch me more than nades, course ive killed with stun gernades.

That's the thing I hear a lot of people complaining about...really it's a small issue..the only reason it's an issue is because of the fact they decided to give a ranking/achievement system in the MP aspect of the game...everyone expected/or ASSumed (Including myself) that their servers would save your info. Hell I lost many hours when I lost my profile info after re-installing the game after a fresh windows install...a quick google, some info and knowlege gained, problem solved...takes 20 seconds or so to make a zip of the Player folder...do that every once in a while and you're good imo. A little more reading/info acquiring can lead to a lot of saved headaches anymore imo...and lessons like this that are learned are rarely needed to be re-learned.

It's a great game, and has a lot of good players, there are some things I dislike, but a lot more that I enjoyed that more than make up for this small issue imo.

what really? if I reformat I will lose my level and all my guns and have to gain them back again? thats lame. does it also mean that I can download someone else's saved game and get golden shotguns for no work at all?
