oc'ing the black edition 5000+

will black edition 5000+ oc'ed to like 3.1 ghz be enough with 2 gb ddr2 (maybe 4gb) ram and a 9600 gt or 8800 gs or 8800 gt be enough to play games like crysis, gta 4, halo 3, COD 4, far cry, nfs, f.e.a.r., etc. on 1280 x 1024 on high settings and run a good benchmark score

yeah if you're running xp and not vista 2 gb of ram will be plenty maybe even 3 gigs and with the 9800 would be a better choice

yea im gonna have xp pro sp2 with 2-4gb and 9800 is phenom which is like $250...

my new system when i tried my old x1300 on it with f.e.a.r. at 1280x1024 runs easy but not all the settings are set high and i still get 30 fps avg

only 30fps with x1300

i got about 50fps everthing set to high and 1280x1024. my x1950 pro got about 80fps and i just test my 2900gt. 1280x1024 everthing to high(max) 117fps

With the 5000+ BE you will have no problems playing any of those games you mention. I play all of them smooth. I'm running mine at 3ghz. Every once in awhile i'll do 3.2ghz not really a big difference, maybe 2fps lol

dude its an x1300 256 mb card non pro it sucks im trying to get a new card right now but my g/f wont let me get anything for my computer

Ah, therein lies your problem... I had one of those bother me for a long time... until I tracked her montly spending on girly things, and told her... well, we had a discussion.

Perhaps a better cooler and some overclocking goodness on your GPU? 9 out of 10 doctors recommend it!

lol funny wife/g/f goodness. i'm currently having an issue ocing my 5000+ black to it's full potential b/c right @ the last moment she asked me to lower the amount I was spending on my pc..and foolish me skimped on the cpu fan..now when i oc near 3200ghz..temps raise like the devil!

you'll notice a difference overclocking a 5000+ from 2.6ghz to 3ghz also.
