X38 vs X48???

OK guyz,
Asus maximus formula vs asus rampage formula, which to get and is the chipset diffrence that much that its worth gettings the rampage as i found a pretty got deal to the rampage, what iam concerned about is that a read alot of reviews and gudies on how to flash the maximus bios to a rampage, so will that be better or should i just get the rampage (im thinking its more futureproof)....

appreciate your help...
Thanxx..

IMO neither of them will be futureproof as I believe Intel is introducing a new socket for the Nehlam (? spelling).

EDIT: Also, why do you want the X38 or X48 when you are runing an Nvidia graphics card? I don't see that you'll gain that much over your current mobo (P35 clocks very well), and if your aren't running crossfire then whats the point?

mos neither will give any great leaps in performance over your current p35, other than any extra features those boards have.

2 reasons im switching to asus,
First of all im looking forward to overclock my E8400 which will be arriving soon and i heard that both asus mobos have crazy OC features,
Second reason is that im also gettings two HD 3870's that im willing to run on crossfire (Tryin out ATI for a change) i raed that the HD3870 is a badass when running two of them on crossfire,
and im definitely not giving up my E6550, P35 and 8800GT just getting them a big brother....

Don't bother. the P35 clocks on par with the X38, and with the new Nehalem coming out you really would be a fool to upgrade now.

I've found that the difference in performance between the P35, X38, X48 and the up and coming P45, are so minimal (Even with DDR3), that it's not actually an upgrade as such.

Wait for Nehalem with it's quickpath architecture and brand new socket.

And honestly, ATi card's don't suffer from lower PCI-E bandwidth as much as nvidia, so you won't get full performance, but you only lose 5-10% performance using 16x and 4x crossfire.
