i presume your running vista 32 bit ? the reason it doesnt show all 4gb is because 32bit cant use all 4gb, you need x64, as for your cards not showing correct memory, vista also reports graphics memory weird, it also reports my 320mb as 256 but i wouldnt worry about that.

Check your BIOS and make sure it see's all 4GB. Because if your OS will notice whatever your BIOS see's no matter what OS you have. But you need an x64 OS if you want to utilize all 4GB of RAM.

If your BIOS does not recognize 4GB, then check the memory section and see if you can find something to deal with looping or memory hole. Make sure its the opposite of whatever is selected original. Because i can't remember for the life of me if i enabled mine or disabled it

Each device has "shadow memory map". Your two GPUs are taking memory each, as is everything else you have plugged in, including system i/o area.

Pull out a GPU and your memory will go up.

Its correct, 2.75 is 2 GB + 512 + 256 + the 256*2 for video cards = 3.25 GB, which is the same as my XP 32 bit is displaying for me. Granted, when i boot up into Vista 64 , it recognizes all 4gb. You also might want to try enabling your PAE (Physical address extension)

3.25 is what it should be displaying !

^^ ???

He has 4x 1GB = 4GB

You then SUBTRACT the Page Table, System i/o space, Shadowed memory map for GPUs etc.

So 4GB - 512K - 2x 320k =~ 2.75GB

I'm not sure think PAE will help. PAE is designed for 36-bit page-mode addressing, ie. 16GB under 32-bit Windows Server 2003. User needs >4GB of memory for it to have any affect.

SOME mainboard/BIOS allow advanced paging configurations to claw back some of the memory allocation made for system i/o etc.

Sorry for the confusion. I also run 4 x 1 GB stick and have a single 512 MB video card. I dual boot VISTA 64 and windows xp 32 bit. In vista its fine, because im in a 64 bit environment, so, all ram is accounted for. In windows 32 bit, I have enabled the PAE switch, and now under system properties I have a recognized 3.25 GB of ram. Thats what i was explaining. Its reall easy to see if its enabled or not, when you right click on my computer and check properties, it will tell you under your specs. You might have to enable it. But logically, You should be able to see 3.25

Ahhh. but now i see the error of my ways. I over looked that fact that his cards were 320 and not 256. I jsut skimmed and saw 256 and started adding in my head. Yeah, all is fine. Your specs are being shown the way they should be. You need to go 64 bit if you want to get the max potential out of your system. Sorry for the confusion. I slap myself
