Can't enable second monitor

Hi,
I've been using the "extend my desktop..." option for months now, without any problems. I connected my TV to the S-Video of my Vid-Card (HD3870) and was able to watch movies etc. from my Hard Drive through my TV monitor.
When I first bought the PC, I had the same problem and when I googled it up I found that the solution was to connect the PC monitor to the left DVI instead of the right. That actually worked.
Now, the problem appeared again: When I go to either Windows Display properties or Catalyst Control Center, I click on the "extend my desktop..." option or "enable second display" and what happens is the primary monitor flashes and then I'm back to where I started (with second display still disabled).

Please help me enable my TV again....
