X-Fi + I/O Panel + Optical Audio Cable +Receiver's SubWoofer = 2.0 output not 2.1

Hello,

How do you enable your receiver's sub woofer if you are using your X-Fi's I/O Panel to output sound using Optical Audio Cable? I have tried adjusting few settings found within the X-Fi control panel but nothing has worked so far. I wasn't able to successfully google an answer to this as of yet. Any help is appreciated.

I'm not sure how much help I can be as I've never used optical connections - but, just to make sure, you do have the I/O panel plugged into power, and your subwoofers power is on, right?

It boils down to the AC-3 filter, nothing really to do with the card or its driver, once you set the speaker out as "2/2.1 speakers"

Here's a shot of the drop-down list of the speaker modes available at the AC-3 filter. x.1 is x + woofer.

Google for "K-Lite Codec Pack". It packs a lot of goodies.

It's mind boggling why a program similar to this isn't included with X-Fi installer to allow users to use their receiver if they so choose.

Because the best brains (like Daniel Kamakawi and Alexander Vigovsky) aren't snobbish MIT graduates that usually make it to companies like Creative or <insert greedy company here>. Diamonds are sometimes found in Coal mines.

very true . . . but, then again, in the majority of hardware areas, it's 3rd party independant users who tend to come up with the most useful ideas and software

nice to see you got your setup working, sorry I couldn't help much further - had to fix a coolant leak on my car.
