Games for HIGH ping?

I've got a few friends that I want to play games with, but we are quite far away from each other so we have a 300ms ping.
So, are there any small games (preferably free) in which high ping will not lower the gaming experience?

Every suggestions are welcome! (One thanks to every user will be given!!! )

I personally enjoy a good game of Soldat. it is a polish side scrolling multiplayer shooter.
you can download it here www.soldat.pl...and it is free, but you can donate apparently and unlock something, but i forget what.

First and last are FPS and they are likely to be affected by that 300 ping ...
Trackmania isn't that interesting online, played already...

to paybackdaman: hey, that could be a good idea, I will definitely check that out

not many games are going to like 300ms ping, especially with multiple players. you could be getting lag upto a second (1000ms) in a worst case scenario with the data hopping between players.

You should try and find an FPS game with servers located between you all, you might all get 150ms instead of the 300ms directly between you all.

Yeah dude. I loved that game. Before I got CS i played that non-stop. They just recently released an update for it..i think it is like version 4.1 or w/e. All i know is that it is one badass free game. It uses servers so the whole ping thing can, like mussels said, be "fixed"...well at least reduced. Happy gaming. =D

edit: Ok. I found it. 1.4.2...i was at least close? lol.

Soldat is a unique side-view multiplayer action game. It takes the best from games like Liero, Worms, Quake and Counter-Strike and gives you fast action gameplay with tons of blood and flesh. Soldiers fight against each other on 2D battle arenas using a deadly military arsenal. This is what multiplayer was invented for.

I guess that is included in soldat then? hmm.. that's cool. the more i read about this game, the more i want to play it again. lol.

and some of these friends simply don't have HL...

I used to play this game called "Paintball 2.0" on dial-up, and it worked fine. It's a Quake2 mod, paintball...and it is only 20MB, and free. I've been playing it recently, my net is horrible, and it works well. There are a decent amount of servers too, and works fine with 30 people, some servers always have 25+ people in them

Link

Download the "Alpha 21 Full Standalone"
