decent PSU?

Ok i got a call from supplier he can't get my corsair, he offered me an nspire 600W modular PSU though for 60 bucks to get my crossfire running.

Has dual 18A 12v rails, 2x 6pin PCIe, 8pin AUX, and 2 molex cables with 3 connectors on each line. How does it sound?

Safest bet is see if your supplier has a PSU from that list depending on which cards you will be using.

and the lucky winner is........ Chanelwell... now im assuming this is a recent psu, and assuming that, the nspire stuff might turn out to be good stuff like the thermaltake toughpowers and some of the newer corsairs................... or it could turn out to be a complete utter piece of shit like the antec smartpower series

ive personally not heard of nspire and therefore wouldnt like to commit to one for a performance build, best bet would be what "dark2099" said and see if they have any others although, looking at his list my psu could easily run all/most of them but isnt shown. i would however recomend a well known trusted brand such as corsair/antec/silverstone/antec, and get some reviews beforehand to help me decide

Channel Well is good but the +12v rails are really low for that amount of watts. My 500w has 17a+17a.. Are there any others?

No PFC or 80% eff either. I say NO.

18+18 doesn't do much to describe the power output of a psu.. as it could supply anything from 12 to 34 amps on those rails. the 18 means that it cant supply more then 18 A on each rail. whats the total wattage for the 12v rail?

well its this or an enermax 535 SLI certified PSU these are the only 2 over 500W he carries in stock and i have to make a choice my allied is getting flaky i had to remove my cold cathodes and my extra HD to stop a restart when using flash. I think i pushed that 400W unit to its breaking point lol

420W max over 12v is what is reported

I was under the impression you need 550W min to crossfire

i would grab the enermax.. they manufacture their own psus and they were really really solid and good psus... haven't heard about enermax psu's recently but i would assume they are still doing great.

using the formula wattage = voltage X amperage, it means that your psu does 35A over the 12v, which isn't bad, but might be low for crossfiring stuff like the hd4 series.
