GTX 260/280 price cuts HAVE COME!
GTX 260: $300 shipped, minus a $40 rebate = $260 AR http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814127361
Rebate: http://images10.newegg.com/UploadFil...ul3108cd12.pdf GTX 280 overclocked edition: $499 - 40 rebate = $459 + 10 shipping = $469 shipped AR: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814127360 Others are dropping too, and the PNY 260 has a $50 rebate but hasn't dropped its price just yet, if it does go to $299 - 50 rebate, that would be a great deal. WOW, these r more than expected . i fell bad for folks who paid $650 for 280. well thats the price u pay for cutting edge technology . |

Well spotted Wolf.
Those are great prices. At $299, the GTX260 IS very competitive. $499 is still a little expensive for the GTX280 though. But I'm sure that will come down in a month or two once distribution channel is clear of original expensive stock. P.S. I hate rebates. Aweful accounting and customer tricks. IMO they should be banned. |

thats a LOT of horsepower for $260. Nice post Wolf
I was gonna go 3X 9800GTs in my SFF case, may be 2 X GTX260s instead.

Now the price for that GTX260 is great. The GTX280 is still too much, but its a start. Oh yeah, with those egg rebates being so much, they'll be in limbo for a good 3-4 months

never. i never understood why people in UK just dont buy from US shops(send $ to american, he buys it then ships it to you). the prices are usually the same from US $ to UK pound. and the pound is like double the US $, so prices are effectivly double in the UK compared to US. if i lived in the UK id make a killing buying stuff from US then undercutting retail on the resale on NIB items.

Check on tracked, insured, shipping. I think you will be SURPRISED how expensive it is from US to, e.g. UK

Rates to Europe vary a lot... France is way more than the UK. Weight and size also make the cost jump a LOT.(more than cont. US stuff)
I sent a X2 5600 to nick259 in the UK last week for $4.60 First class. But when sending larger items like mobos and my cases (disassembled and flat) it can be $20s to 40s. I have sent hundreds of things to Europe by USPS and never had 1 prob so I never waste money on stuff like tracking or ins. One thing thats funny is when shipping to UK and Austraila using USPS Priority it gets there just as fast as if I am shipping across the US..

well I didnt send it so I cant comment on the customs form or what/how you sent it. I have sent a few things to Canada and they got there quickly (customs was a bit of a pain though)

The fastest GPU ever made in the history of GPUs, and this joker wants them for cheaper than 3dFX cards that sailed past the $500 mark YEARS ago. The 4870 is $300 should that be cheaper too? Have you still failed to understand the difference between the two cards and why you're lucky the 280 came down this far? As for UK pricing, they are finally on a 1:2 ratio, that is, with what the original USD MSRP was. Leadtek will be offering a 280 for 300GBP soon. That's still 600 USD. Maybe another month?

^^ Agree. Rebates are PITA.
But the comparison of the 4870 vs. GTX280 is wrong. We all know the GTX280 is overpriced. The comparison is 4870 vs. GTX260. Same price. Same performance. BUT, the GTX260 overclocks better, therefore, better value for money. Note this is NEW. Last week we couldnt say this. Today, the prices of GTX260 have tanked and it is now competitive. |
