20FPS with a 6000+ and 8800GT sounds right.
when you say "it says 45C idle" do you mean the card or the CPU? (it's perfectly fine for the card to idle that temp, but not the cpu)

Edit: Nevermind, I was thinking very high settings. 20 fps is bad for medium settings and that setup. Is the game patched up to date?
Also try using FRAPS or some other software to see what your FPS are, sometimes it seemed like I was getting pretty low frames when I wasn't. (Crysis optimization, gotta love it)

at least 2gb of RAM is necessary and that rig should be able to do high at 1680 x 1050 in mid 30's because that is what mine did and I had a very similar system check my specs I haven't changed them yet.

Probably not, you'll either have to turn down the settings or pick up another 8800GT

Not sure but a stock GT should be able to eat crysis at high at that res just make sure on the nvidia driver settings AA and AF are disabled and that you have the latest drivers.

Welcome to the forums dude!

Don't forget to fill out your System Specification in your User Control Panel, it'll be easier than listing it in whatever thread you'll be in.

As for your frame rate, you should be getting more than that at 1400 x 900 - but as you're on high that might explain it. Try dropping to medium and turning off or lowering your anti-aliasing (AA) that'll definitely increase your frames. I'd also turn off motion blur if you have it enabled as that eats frames.
