System Specs

ATI Avivo encoding five times faster than traditional means

ATIs avivo feature, which comes standard on all the new X1000 series boards, can encode videos with the ATI Xcode encoding program up to 5 times faster than traditional means, as it uses the graphic card to crunch the numbers. Xcode beta version supports the following files: MPEG 1/2, VCD, S-VCD, DVD, MPEG 4 (DivX Compatible), WMV9, Portable Media Center, H.264 (AVI), MPEG-4 (Sony PSP Compatible Video), H.264 (MP4 Apple iPod Compatible Video). This should be a strong selling point for video editors, PSP and IPod video owners. The only downside, it is not available to the public yet.
