Max temperature for my Asus MB
Hi all,
I recently bought 2 Sapphire H4850 in Crossfire, these are great cards but they heat like hell (+/- 85°C each). So with two of them my case is like an oven now. I'm just kidding it's OK, Asus PC Probe was reporting 41°C all the time, even after 3h of intensive gaming with high resolution settings. Today I bought two extra modules of 1Gb RAM. So now I have 4 x 1Gb of RAM. The RAM modules come with a heat sink so I thought it was going to be OK (see RAM modules here: http://www.ldlc.be/fiche/PB00061248.html) but after 5 min I turned on my computer, PC Probe came up with an alarm because the MB temperature was over the threshold set at 45°C. It was still going up and at 47°c I've decided to shut down the PC just "in case of", as I had no idea if 47°c is hot or not for a MB. Now the PC is back online and the t° is stabilized at 43°C, but for this I had to set my 3 fans (2 x 90mm + 1x 120mm) to "high" so the PC is very noisy. So to make a long story short, what is the max MB temprature I can afford to have. I mean not the highest before it burns, but the highest to not impact the perfs and the hardware? (btw the MB is an Asus P5E3 DELUXE/WiFi-AP) Thanks for your help Chouf |

I don't think it is the motherboard temperature is all that important. I would be more worried about the north and south bridge temps. On my set-up the North and south bridges run at 49C all the time. No matter what I am doing. My motherboard temp is running at 43C right now and it varies.
I guess just begin to worry when it goes over 55C. Because 50C is nominal, but a little high, and 55C starts becoming a little problematic. If noise is a problem look into some fans with low dBA's and high CFM's.
