Is WD going to work with other HDD?

Im thinking of getting

WD Raptor ( SATA 3.0G 300GB 10000 RPM )
WD Caviar SE16 WD5000AAKS ( SATA 3.0G 500GB 10000 RPM )

If I use two of those, will WD Raptor still perform at its original speed
or will it slow down to work at WD SATA 500gb's speed?

From What I heard, computer usually work at the speed of its slowest device ( which is hard drive ).

So If I use both hard drive, will both work at their OWN speed?
or will WD Raptor slow down to work at the WD caviar's speed?

That only applies if you club them in RAID. I guess you are not doing that, so both will perform at its max speed always, neither will slow down or step up in speed.

System Specs

Yep the Raptor will keep its speed and the second drive will run at its own speed.

Normally the things that downclock to run at the same speed are graphics cards, RAM, or hard drives IN a RAID array (as stated above).

Thanks for the info.
One more question. What if the other hdd im using is SATA 1.5G instead of SATA 3.0G?

So lets say I have raptor SATA 3.0G and caviar SATA 1.5G.
Now will WD Raptor 3.0G still run at its own speed despite the fact that Caviar SATA 1.5 G is connected to the computer?

Yep they will both run at their own speed (one at 3, one at 1.5).

But, SATA II (3G) doesnt make a difference anyway for a single hard drive (as currently, no hard drive goes faster than 1.5G).

You mean performance. In some ways yes, if you decide to use the caviar as your main drive instead of the raptor.

Lol he just wants to know if the Raptor will run at the same speed as his caviar
