May need Surgery!:(

Well, a couple of days ago i found this big lump on the side of my throat. I thought it would go down but it didn't, so a couple of days later i went to the Doctors and they said it is more likely a Cyst(just a big lump with stuff in it). They didnt do anything, but instead gave me a number to a ears, eyes and throat Doctor(dont know what there called). And i have an appointment tomorrow at 3. I went on the internet and they usually drain them out(if there's liquid) or there going to have to cut it out of my throat. Im scared. I dont know if i am going to do Surgery tomorrow or not tho.

Surgery isn't that bad. I had major surgery that saved my life back in 06, had to take out 12 inches of infected intestine, a complication of my Crohn's disease. It's cool cause you will go out, then the next instant wake up and everything is done. REALLY freaky, but nothing to be afraid of.

They might not even put you under, depending on the operation, they could just numb it.

Yeah, hardest part was the recovery, but I was walking the next day , and out of the hospital by day 5 and that was MAJOR surgery. You will do fine. Glad that I made you feel better

Take the surgery bud. Majority of cysts are just tissue or liquid build up, entirely benign as they should be able to confirm for you.

The operations are generally quicker than the amount of time you spend 'prepping' in the hospital itself.

I've had many a friend(odd..why so many? lol) who went in for them, and the op took less than twenty minutes.

You might not like this, but the majority of the time they do not put you under anasthetic since removing cysts is such a simple and somewhat painless operation. I have one in my neck too, but its not causing me any trouble so i haven't gone to the doctors about it. Been there for YEARS, since i was younger, no need for me to see the doctor, people usually get them removed for aesthetic reasons unless they're in the way of something important. Anyway, i was always told that if i were to go to the doctors, they would make an incision in my neck and just simply slide it out. No anasthetic! Makes me cringe talking about it, but anywho, you'll be fine!

If they don't put me on anasthetics, i would just like them to numb it really good. Since the Cyst is right next to my throat i highly doubt they will just sit me in a chair and start cutting away. Also, the Cyst doesn't bother me at all either(doesn't hurt or anything) But alot of people are telling me just to get it removed so i dont have to worry about it.

I had one on my back for years and it finally became infected. I went to the Doctor and after he looked at it for about 10 seconds, he asked me when the last time I ate. I thought to myself " what kind of question is that?". Then I figured it out, I needed surgery like now!
I just waited too long and it had to come out that day. The infection was spreading to my lymph modes under my arms and they were tender and sore.

They removed it along with a hole out of my back about an inch and a half deep.

Update:
Well, i am back from the appointment, and the Doctor said she was unsure of what it is.(even tho the hospital i went to before said it was more likely Sebaceous Cyst). She has scheduled a appointment for an Ultra Sound tomorrow at 4:00. So far all the Doctors have just been touching it and pushing it and what not, hopefully i get something done tomorrow or at the end of the month.

Its not an Infection(with Cysts, you can get an infection by trying to drain it yourself)

If i had a camera i would show you guys a pic of the Cyst tho.

Pfft, doctors these days are useless. They never get on with things, always 'scan this' and 'check this' and 'take these'. If its kinda hard, moves around when you push it and is causing you no bother shit i coulda told you it was a Cyst. Why does she wanna ultra sound you? Did you tell her your other doctor told you it was a cyst? Damn noobs!

I agree 100%

Also, she wants to do an Ultra sound to make sure shes right(she to was talking about how it could be a Cyst). But i didn't tell her that the other Doctors says its a Cyst, but i hear that there pretty obvious to tell. So i really don't know why either, but i just have to go along with it i guess.

been their, done that, try not to worrie it doesn't do any good, focus on something a hour at a time and move throught the day. If it came up fast like that it is most likely a cyst.

DO NOT drain it yourself! At best you will end up with a scar and at worst you could get a severe infection.

Get a second opinion if necessary but have whatever this is treated by a physician in a sterile environment.

Your well-being is worth paying for!

Update:
I got the Ultra Sound done, and this Doctor said it is more likely a Lymph Node, which she said everyone has on there body but sometime if there are blemishes or something else happening in that area they tend to get larger. So she said that its normal and to wait a few days more to see if it goes down. Here's to it going down

Cysts usually (in fact, I think always) appear in the lymph nodes. They are usually not at a problem, although annoying. I've had a few before, never any bad enough to warrant a doctor's visit. Mine always went away, sometimes not for several weeks though. Hopefully yours will do the same so you don't have to pay for a costly procedure (every procedure). Either way, not much to worry about though.
