Dual boot question.

I am dual boot XP and Vista, if I remove the 1 sata drive that holds Vista all by itself, will I screw things up?
XP is my default now on the boot selection screen.

Will have to explain better how you have this setup ?.

If you have XP and Vista installed on the same HDD and remove the HDD will you not be removing XP too ?.

Do you have XP installed on one HDD and Vista on another ?. IF you installed each OS on each HDD as the 1st drive all boot files to each OS should be on there own HDD's

If you have 2 HDD's and install Vista on HDD 1 and XP on the second HDD the XP boot files will be on the 1st HDD if the same boot order was kept.

if your bootloader is on the sata/vista one then you wont be able to boot
unless the xp bootloader is still on the other drive, you can disconnect it to try, or disable sata in bios as its easier than pulling out cables, it will work fine afterwards,
can also try using xp disk to repair mbr/bootloader if needed.

I believe the XP install will install over the Vista boot there fore only seeing the new XP install. Prolly a 3rd party app for it though.

Ok,,,,1 hard drive holds VISTA all by itself, nothing else at all,...just VISTA.
My other hd has XP .
The default os for my Dual boot is XP in bios screen just before load, it was Vista, but I got tired of having Vista load if I did not hit the button to change it to XP in 30 seconds,...so I changed it.
