I'm getting sick of driver cleaner. Can I just do the lazy method and install these over my current ones?

I stopped using drivercleaner long time ago (a year or so). Just uninstall old driver, reboot, install new driver.

if you run into problems, THEN use drivercleaner.

Btw, I have not had one single problem with drivers the last year. actually ever :-)

The Release Notes link doesn't work.

Edit: Now they seem to be working again.

I guess this is the WHQL version of 177.92 Beta, they both have the same release note.

Try this.

Uninstall your old display drivers, then before you reboot go to my computer, C: drive, nvidia folder and then locate which folder has the old drivers it'll be 17x.xx and delete that folder, reboot, install the new drivers, and then under device manager, locate the display adapter right click and choose update drive, and then specify the .inf file in C:\nvidia\(whatever it says)\17x.xx\.inf. Do the same for all cards if running SLI and then reboot.

Has worked flawless me for everytime

Yep because I dont see an improvement between the two.

The best way to uninstall GPU drivers:

Easiest method below.
D/L Driver Cleaner Pro or Driver Sweeper and install it.
1) R/Click My Computer
2) Select Manage> Device Manager
3) Expand Display Adapter> R/Click NVIDIA GeForce xxxx/ATI Radeon xxxx
4) Select Uninstall> Confirm Device Removal> OK
5) Restart Computer
6) Enter Safe Mode..Tap F8 during Post
7) Once in Safe Mode> Run Driver Cleaner Pro or Driver Sweeper > Select nVidia (not nForceChipset/For ATI select ATI, ATI CCC, ATI WMD)> start Cleaning
8) Do step 7 Twice with Driver Cleaner Pro - With Driver Sweeper do it once.
9) Restart Computer> Cancel out of New Found Hardware Wizard
10) Navigate to the Location of your Drivers and Install.

hahaha... what ? you mean you dont do that ?

on a second note, these dropped my vantage scores substantially, and then i was about to go back to 177.89's (the fastest so far ~same as 177.92) but decided to test them on crysis warhead- these are the smoothest at 35-50 fps on enthusiast...

my "test" turned into an hour long gaming session... but has anyone else's score dropped in the synthetics like that?

I have an 8800gt and I was using the 177.8somethings prior. Previous ones came with physx and were posted on techpowerup's main page.

I just played Crysis and could tell it was smoother as well. They did a good job with these, but why so late in the game? I wish I had these from day one! lol

Ummm yeah, that's a bit overkill for a simple driver update. Completely unnecessary.

I just use the built in uninstaller, reboot, then double click the exe for the new driver package, wait till it's done, reboot again.

The only time I've ever had to run driver cleaner is when switching brands.
