GeForce 8800 GTS 640 check
I wasn't exactly sure where to post this cause I'm not selling it on this forum. How much would you say a Evga 8800 GTS 640 MB is worth? It's the standard 96 sp version, no factory OC or anything. I got this in August of 07 and ran it until this past August. Benched at 700 core/1000 memory, always ran under 55*C on stock cooling, but I didn't run it everyday at those clocks for sure. Never gave a single problem.

From my research a new one goes from $120-$170USD. I'd say about $70-$90USD is pretty reasonable

Obviously as you know, looking at RRP(new retail) pricing is a place to start with any type of product. General economic standards dictate that once a product is used it loses at least 1/3 of it's original sale/trade value. However in a private market, that can go entirely out the window (though you shouldn't entirely ignore the concept altogether).
With modern computing components, such as GPUs, most informed buyers know that as long as the card is not defective, than it can easily retain almost 80% or more of it's original value, as it's in full working condition. The only reason they would be paying more for a new one is for simple peace of mind that it's never un-molested. Yet often, people are always on the lookout for a 'bargain,' and when you face competition you naturally will make less money. But then, going back to the private market comment, given a product's features or rareness variables, people are may be willing to pay extra, or more than what one would assume is an appropriate price. The original 640 GTS is not easy to come by anymore, and it's still a solid and respectable performer. Most prices new online are ridiculously way off, almost as expensive as it was back in early 2007. It's as if these companies have fallen off the market trail. So your 80% value of original is also skewed and becomes irrelevant. I've sold two of them over here in the UK for about 80 pounds each. To give you comparison to newer GPUs, you can get an 8800 GT for about 90 pounds, and a 8800 GTS 512 for 110 pounds, and possibly a 9800GTX for 140 pounds, all brand new. The two I sold were used and the buyers knew it. But in their minds they saw a rare, respectable and good condition product, that was a bit cheaper than a comparable product that was new. They did not care about it being used, because they are informed buyers of graphics cards. Price/Performance the 8800GT would be better, but both buyers later told me that they bought the original GTS for it's vintage aspect, and it's extra video ram capacity. These buyers were particular, and not mainstream; and thus I lucked out. Unfortunatley the market over in the States, even if you use a fair conversion rate, does not apply the same in a monetary aspect. But if you try to apply the thinking I've mentioned above, and target a niche private market, then you could make some decent money. I would say $120 is a good rough place to start. You should take no less than $90-100 for it if you can, and shoot for maybe $130, but $120 would be fair. Yet if you move into a mainstream market, than $70-100 would be more appropriate.

That was very descriptive and helpful. I was thinking around $130. The friend I'm selling it to will be upgrading from a 7900 GT so the difference will be worth it for sure.

I would probably say $70-$90, with $110 more as a high figure.
