is there some sort of settings you can access on your monitor?
such as frequency, which input if it has multiple inputs and possibly a factory reset button on the monitor?

That's a new one to me. Is this cable attached to the monitor permanently, or is it a screw in type? If it's the screw in type, I am thinking that the cable is bad, or shorting out somewhere.
