gaming Pc build
Hi, I'm currently building a new PC for gaming purpuse with the low knowledge I have. I've found two specs that are in my price range.
-PC1: CPU: E8400 Motherboard: Asus p5n-t DELUXE RAM: 4go OCZ Platinum ddr2 800 Mhz Hard Disk: 2x WD RAPTOR 74GO (10, 000RPM) RAID + WD 250go PC Case: Antec 900 (Nine Hundred) Mid Tower Gaming Case Optical: no info on this 3D Card: 2x EVGA 9800GTX (SLI) -PC2: CPU: E8400 w/ OCZ Vendetta Heatsink (Artic Cooling MX-2 Thermal compound applied) Motherboard: Asus P5Q-Pro RAM: G.Skill F2-8000CL5D-4GBPQ PC2-8000 4GB 2x2GB DDR2-1000 CL5-5-5-15 Hard Disk: WD Caviar SE16 640GB 16mb 7200rpm [WD6400AAK] PC Case: Antec 900 (Nine Hundred) Mid Tower Gaming Case PSU: Antec Truepower Trio 650W Power Supply SLI Certified Optical: Samsung SH-S202J DVD+RW 20x8x16 DVD-RW 20x6x16 DL 12X IDE Black 3D Card: Sapphire Radeon 4850 512mb I feel like the first Pc is superior but I often guess wrong so answer me which one is better and if the spec is fine or if it needs something more. |

I'd say second too, although they are pretty different builds. The second offers more storage space and a simpler set-up, while the first offers 2 gpu's for better graphics performance, albeit w/ the problems of sli, at a seemingly higher cost. Either would be fine, I'm not really sure what your degree of separation is w/ the builds though, as they seem pretty different. If you do go w/ the second maybe bump it up to a 4870 w/ a cf board to possibly add another later, w/ a perhaps a slightly more powerful psu. If you can afford two raptors in the first, you could also afford two 640gb in the second, which will offer much higher sustained read/write speeds than the raptors.

the thing is that I am getting some nice discounts that I can not match with everything I want and I do not need big hard drives, I'm not filling them realy much, only took a raptor for gaming purpuse. used to only have one of old pc without any other hard drive, but I can get the second raptor for only 20bucks

I'm going to say #1. You said you didn't need too much hdd space. The 2 gfx cards would be better than the single 4850, although I'm more of a fan of ATI still

9800GTX is pretty much same as a HD4850. So basically you have two times the raw graphics performance in the first rig. Why not go for a 4870 for the 2nd system or even a HD4850CF?
And the drive setup in the first rig is superior in terms of performance and system responsiveness. You'll love the Raptors

I'm going to go with #1
Can I ask why you chose an IDE dvd drive in number 2? |

Of course he will have to change few things in BOTH systems to make FULL use of the budget. (such as 250GB data drive in first rig doesn't cut it anymore these days....)
