Game suggestions for a 6 year old girl?
She likes all types of games, especially platform ones. I used to let her run around a bit in Oblivion under my supervision, but then it's too complicated for her.
Any ideas? Games having popular cartoon characters like Sponge-Bob and Scooby doo? Educational games especially to learn reading in English? RPG's with simple mouse & keyboard control? Games like having a doll on the screen and you apply make-up and change clothes? Please help me out with a list, whether freeware or games which I have to buy is not important. Thanks. |

Hmmmm.
to be honest, i'd look at console games and ports of them. Most console games are child friendly.

Doesn't Spore need an active internet connection to play?
Edit: never mind apparently it doesn't need it. However it does need a 2.0Ghz processor.... her's is only 1.5Ghz... |

I don't think so. It just needs an internet connection to activate. She'll just be stuck with Maxis included content and the stuff she makes which is probably for the better anyway.
The Space age will be a bit too much for her (reading/economic stuff) but the other four stages should be fine (the first three especially).

but thanks for the heads-up.She speaks and understands English perfectly. She's only just started reading though, so games where she has to rely on reading subtitles aren't suitable. About Spore, her graphics card isn't in the supported list... but well it might play on low settings... The specs of her pc is 1.5Ghz Athlon 1800+ (I think, I always confuse AMD numbers) 512MB RAM FX5500 AGP 256MB |

World of Goo
Awesome game! Quick learning curve, hard to master (if trying to beat the Obsessive Completion Distinction). |

LEGO Batman is good but it's rated at 10+. I have a nephew and neice that are around that age and they get around Rayman Raving Rabbids alright. I think that is available on PC but it might be harder to do on a keyboard than on the Wii, for instance.

"Games like having a doll on the screen and you apply make-up and change clothes?"
i think she will like the sim2 ( your cpu and gpu wil be fine with it), or some barbie series, and maybe you can use emulator like games for n64 (it have majority games for child eg. super mario n64, mario kart) |

Without attempting to sound like an asshole, and with having the best intentions in mind, since I've been there myself,
My recommendation for a game for a six year old, is none at all. I hope I don't need to explain why the lack of video games in a child's life is a GOOD thing.

Six year old? The best game would be the nearest playground and a bunch of neighbourhood kids.
Otherwise, you could start off with some puzzles, arcade puzzles. No mindless shoot em up action, please. |
