Intel Mobile Processor and Chipset Roadmap for 2008-09 Revealed

Intel has set concrete plans for the rest of 2008 and 2009, with its lineup of mobile processors, as in notebook, netbook, portable PC, and MID processors. Roadmaps available with TechARP also reveal Intel's plans for supportive chipsets. The roadmap, for now, shows that the laptop won't be running a Nehalem processor until Q3, 2009. The company still has several SKUs to pull off its hat till there's a need to bring in Nehalem architecture based processors.

The first slide shows the roadmap for Intel's performance and mainstream notebook processors. The second slide reveals Intel's SFF (small-form factor) processors, where mobile components are used to build desktop PCs with heavy space constraints. The third slide reveals the value-oriented processors in store. The fourth slide reveals Intel's netbook processor and supportive chipset lineup, and the fifth shows what Intel has in store on the chipsets front. Finally, Intel has also listed products marked for end-of-life.

Intel is milking us big time, the dual core Atom has been completed months ago and they still don't plan on releasing it yet, probably holding it back so they don't have to come up with another UMPC chip for the next 12-18 months...

Hope AMD releases something that would kill the Atom platform speed/power consumption wise, their mobile IGP chips would thrash Intel's offering with ease.

What do you mean? We already have dual core atoms (330) in stock here in EU. And already for some time now.

P.S. I can see newegg has those too: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813121359

That's only for their ITX boards, availability for laptop manufacturers was delayed/cancelled in favour of shipping their existing single core Atom chip, the demand was so high they decided to hold back the dual core version.

Apparently the dual core version only draws 3 watt more under full load.
