Athlon X2 high speed ram fun!
I'm slowly building towards an intel system, but I'll always have an athlon around, but the ram I got to start it off with is the mushkin ascent pc8500 4gb kit. So might as well try it in my athlon.. well with my 5600+ windsor at 12x multi, I get ram divisor of 6, so 3.3ghz and my rams at 1100mhz! Dead stable. And shaved many seconds off superpi, matched most phenoms. Now am going to game and see if there's a diff, although I don't expect much. Just think it's kewl I've got 1100mhz stable ram in an athlon x2! Mushkin rules!

My next system will be a corei7 as well, I am still playing with my 939 and don't know much about am2 but just by looking at your settings, have you tried using 1t instead of 2......because that could make a big difference.

1t could be pushing it, but I'll probably try tomorrow, just have to do some fallout3 for awhile....
Oh yeah, and this ram does this at 2.1v max, mushkingreg has had this ram to 1155 at 2.0v on an intel system. And i7 I believe only uses ddr3 ram, I just want a p45 mobo and an e84-500... Last edited by johnspack; Nov 4, 2008 at 12:59 AM. |

I am still thinking if i7 is really going to be the way to go, however there could a couple of steppings released a few months after so I'm trying to be patient. Funniest thing, however, is that it looks like it won't support DDR2.
Either way, I checking out some of the hype with Deneb. If one company releases their new stuff early, best to just let it slide to see what will happen... |

Well, I'm doing research right now on intel vs amd cpu benefits, trying to see the highest superpi score an x2 can do compared to a core2...
I don't think if I go over 1100, it will do much for this dinosaur.... validation:http://valid.x86-secret.com/show_oc.php?id=441750 I'll attempt one for 3.4 tomorrow! Glad this ram has headroom.. Last edited by johnspack; Nov 4, 2008 at 07:08 AM. |

Whoa, ht at 1500, thats a suicide run, I run my setup 24/7. I don't bother with suicide benches on an athlon, not much point! Still would like to see you pull a superpi, and I'll try to beat it!!

i removed the ihs on my 5000 and actually put an ultra 120 extreme on it, temps are about 28idle and 35 load with 1.515v. cpuz reports incorrectly but that's what it's at, i can post at 3.55 but there is nothing i've been able to do to get it stable, the memory runs way up, i had a successful post last night at 1320 for the memory but other then that my oc is staying hear for now, it's about the best i can get it with all things considered.

lol yeah 1500htt is something not most boards can run stable, i've been like that for the last 10 months or so, m2n32 sli deluxe is one hell of a board when it comes to overclocking. has done the best for me in terms of clocks out of any motherboard i've ever used.

Just noticed you have the same mobo.. guess I'm going to try for more then! And no, I'm not smoking the phenoms, I wouldn't expect to be able to, typically they are used on much newer and better mobos than what I have and better sub-timing selection for dealing with faster ram ect, and it's only a little 5600+ windsor! Hear the mini-dinosaur roar!

Yeah i purchased the m2n32 as a replacement for the evga board i had and it's def one of the best of the 590 series, it takes a serious beating. btw i've notice better performance using a half multiplier suchas as 11.5, so if you have a chance give it a whirl and post up some screenies for me and i'll take a look. Almost everyone i've ever delt with who has this mobo has said nothing but god things about it, so let me know how you fair with it.

Been too busy to play yet but on it soon. Unfortunately my windsor does not have half multis, I notice my 3600+ bribsy does, but I only got 2.5ghz out of that. I think that half multi would come in really handy about now! About all I can do now is push ht speed upwards....

Nope the old bugger just won't do it, 3300/1100 is the max it'll do. I might get 3400 at well over 1.5v but not worth it to me. These ascents are going to rock on a p45 board!
