Hmm, $320 for a 920 is somewhat reasonable but motherboards starting at $220, no way. Going on those figures, the cheapest you could get i7 for is $540+DDR3 memory. Expensive but that is to be expected.

Sweet but looks like I will wait till they come down a bit . I do not like to get them right at first then watch as the prices drop like a stone ! Makes me feel cheated . But I think this is going to be a great next build . I feel sorry for AMD ..

i think it would be a good idea to wait for deneb b4 we make any hasty decisions, but if you do get it, POST SOME BENCHESSSSSSS!! and not vantage benches, useless to me...
i use DX10@1200p, blu-ray (h.264)@1080p, which are vista exclusive because of M$, i have no use for vista at all whatsoever.

Just got back from the MicroCenter in Tustin. They had 10 Core i7 965 Extreme's and 25 Core i7 920's in stock (well, 9 and 24 now ). However, they only had 3GB and 6GB Patriot 1600MHz memory kits, so I grabbed them for now just to get my rig up and running for launch... They were also supposed to have the 6GB Corsair kits, but after the employees searched their stock for over 20 minutes they simply couldn't find any in their inventory.I'm still waiting on the Dominator 1866MHz kit though. ![]() Well, I just got back from MicroCenter. Thanks bro. ![]() The prices were $299 and $999 respectively - stickers are wrong - and I believe they are only doing this promotion for today and tomorrow. ![]() I'm getting the EVGA X58, but unfortunately I gotta wait until it's released tomorrow.

is moving to core i7 really worth spending $900?
I am seriously considering selling my dfi, ram, and c2d but i dk if i wanna fork out another $600 for a new proc. I did read this was the "low end" i7 procs also, so if thats the case should i hold off? and whats up with lga 1156 aka 1160?

LGA 1156 will be dual core i7's with SMT, they will support dual channel DDR3 and thus the motherboards will be much cheaper.

ok so basically Intel is kicking us all in the balls by saying there releasing two sockets.
1366 (hella expensive) 1156 (cant freakin oc) 1366 (hella expensive) lets you oc and s bloomfield with 4 cores 8 threaded apps = HELLA EXPENSIVE 1156 (cant oc) is cheaper with dual core i7's and lower end quads with 4 threded apps = Quote:
