ASRock Super Computer X58 Motherboard Spotted

Pictures of ASRock's very own X58 motherboard, named simply "X58 Super Computer", appeard today over the web. Now one thing is for sure, it's not really a "super" motherboard and it's not really here to compete with high-end offering, but to appeal to the rest of the audience. After all this is an ASRock, meaning that it will do the work and still offer a good mainstream value with lower price. The motherboard is socket LGA 1366 ready, offering four PCI express x16 slots, three PCI slots and six DDR-3 DIMMs for triple-channel memory kits. The X58 Super Computer comes with completely passive cooling, there are radiators on the north bridge and the board's power elements which are connected by a single heatpipe, while the south bridge is cooled by a modest passive cooler. ASRock's creation also comes with six SATA ports, 12x USB 2.0 ports, one eSATA connector, integrated 7.1 channel audio, dual Gigabit Ethernet and one FireWire connector. This motherboard also implements ASRock's Instant Boot technology, that allows Windows XP or Windows Vista to boot up for 3 to 4 seconds. The AsRock X58 Super Computer has yet to reach stores and receive a price.

It does and I am sure it will undercut most of the competition, for someone that does not overclock (read the majority of PC users) it should be great, for overclockers/enthusiasts it may have less appeal as Asrock boards tend to lack many of the overclocking options most of us expect, but hey, it's hardly a critisism if they cater for the majority of users!

My experience with their "high-end" boards is that they have all of the overclocking functions most would expect, but I see your point - the overclocking crazy LN2 guys will just buy the best, no matter the cost.

It would be interesting to see how much this board will be priced, AsRock boards have always been uber cheap!

With Current i7 boards costing £250+ what are the chances of this board coming in at under £100?

Doubt that. If they were to do that, they wouldnt have any room for their P55 chipset boards. Remember, Asrock boards are cheaper, but this is still the X58 chipset, so it is the flagship.

Hmm forgot about the P55, hopefully that would sell for around the £100 mark and the premium X58 for £50+ more on top of that.

Minus the ugly pink and baby shit green memory slot colors, that is a very beautiful board with lots of blues and vanilla. hopefully it will be a little cheaper regardless if its x58 flagship.

If it cost less then the MSI X58 Platinum at $220 USD that would be great. I'm going to guess it will go for ~$199 USD.

I thought the X58 chipset / boards were tageted at overclockers/enthusiasts so I'm not sure any manufacturer should be targeting any other group with it. If ASUS / ASRock cuts out those features that the typical target market for the X58 chipset would want then they may have created a product without a market.

i wanted a crossfire asrock board but i couldnt find it for sale on a uk site
so i ended up winging it on £40 for this MSI Piece o S**T yeah good on paper bad for an OC and HT link is crap on it

never again shall i buy MSI!!!

I was wondering if MSI was any good. I came close to buying that MSI X58 Platinum motherboard for $220 USD. Seems cheap (well you know what I mean) but I didn't know if it was worth it.

its not useless. I use my tv tuner on that slot, and new sound cards are also coming on that
