It will all work, but your components are outdated. Unless you getting those parts on the cheap, I would recommend getting the newer 45nm C2D or the new i7 and a nvidia chipset 780 or the x58 if going with i7.
What is your budget or what are the prices of those parts that you have selected. |

I'm capped at $600, $650 tops (which is what this set up is before rebates).

I'd switch that 8800GT to a 9800GT so you can go SLI if you want to and more easily. (9800GT is a similar price to an 8800gt and is the same card but overclocked. They cannot be SLI'd together.)

if your capped 600$ then i'd say NONO on a q6700. e7200/e7300 are damn cheap and overclock like beasts. if you need a quad core for rendering and stuff like that, get a q6600. i'd get a cheap p45 board with a 4830, best price/performance
![]() you cap means that you already have a case and so on, or 600$ case included?

i would suggest this config:
e7300 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16819115132 4830 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814131129 p5q pro p45 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813131299 4 gigs of gskill beauty http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820231145 the best psu ever made http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817139002 its 491+shipping after rebates. it beats your setup in games and costs 110$ less. if you want more power go for a e8500 instead and that should do around 600$

680i's do not support 45nm CPU's without a BIOS update.
Even then it can only support the 45nm Duals, no Quads.

yeah true, but the ram and psu you suggested aren't very good in my opinion. much much better some solid gskill 1000mhz and a modular, silent and super stable corsair psu

This isn't a competition, mate. He's trying to get an idea of what he's going to buy.

Its not a competition, but we might as well suggest the best system for his money, and to the person who suggested the memory is bad, its actually a very good set, also a 600W psu is more than what the system will ever use, and OCZ psu's are very tough.

No! 9800gt is not an oced version from 8800 gt. 9800Gt is the same card as the 8800 gtx

9800GT and 8800GT both have 112 SPUs and a 256bit bus.

i think the person I heard it from is wrong too. I forgot his name but I remembered he said it’s the same card as the gtx.

I heard there's this one 9800GT that's actually a 9800GTX with a new name. Kind of weird, but whatever! XD

Its better to go with ATI this round, 4850 is the best below 150$, 9800GT is much slower, so is the GTX.
