Personal storage expert Plextor unveils the first truly pocket-sized external hard disk – one of the smallest 1.8-inch drives in the world. Weighing just 90g, this miniature device enables home users and business users to carry and share important data with them anywhere.
Perfect for PC and Mac users who find memory sticks too limiting, yet don’t want the bulk of a full-sized external drive, the Plextor Pocket HDDs are only about the size of three memory sticks, yet offer much larger capacities - up to 120GB of storage. Plextor’s pocket HDDs come in two sizes, the 60GB PX-PPH60U and the 120GB PX-PPH120U.




Ideal for transporting photos, presentations, data, music and movies, the useful Plextor drives are bus-powered (requiring no external power supply), easy to install (simply Plug & Play) and very quiet in operation.

The diminutive unit measures just 12mm thick, 90mm long and 62mm wide. It features a fast USB 2.0 data transfer (480Mbps) and is compatible with both PC and Mac users.

i love bus powered devices, especially when all they need is a standard mini usb cable. Supplying enough amperage through 2 usb ports is a workaround that fails to work on many computers (according with my own experience)

^agreed. A 2.5" HDD powered over USB is a disaster. Constant failures. Perhaps the 1.8" HDD is more successful. And HOPEFULLY, the are clever enough to put a mini-recharable battery, or capacitor, to make sure seek+write doesnt drop the device due to insufficient power.

This probably uses the Toshiba 60/120GB drives that went into ipods considering its form factor(leftovers maybe?)

Wow ... Ppl finally recognizing that ext. 2.5" does NOT work - I'm actually quite shocked..

I did a 5 drive / 7 Computers / 4 different drive casing bench test on c.net a few years ago PROVING that even with 4 different external power supply sources ext 2.5" USB fails data in large irregular packets on ANY configuration with ANY hardware or settings or OS.

And all i got from the rocetscience peanut gallery was "try a different usb cable".

I'm glad ppl are finally realizing that 2.5" USB ext is a SCAM - and WILL CORRUPT YOUR DATA EVENTUALLY.

I too hope 1.8" / or esata flash drives (possibly running high speed NAND) will replace the high volume - small storage need, but we will have to wait and see...

I'm personally never wasting another cent/penny on an external self powered mechanical drive ever again...
