I chose to buy a Netgear WNDR3700-100NAS router after doing a lot of research. I made my final decision after reading stats on www.smallnetbuilder.com. They list statistical data on performance, Max throughput, LAN to WAN, etc. It is displayed in graph form as compared to many other routers.
The charts showed that On the WAN to LAN throughput benchmark (higher is better): The WRT610N scored 135.6 The WRT320N scored 145.1 The DGL-4500 scored 242.2 The WNDR3700 scored 408.9 On the LAN to WAN Benchmark: The WRT610N scored 157.2 The WRT320N scored 165.5 The DGL-4500 scored 244.0 The WNDR3700 scored 422.3 On the Total Simultaneous Throughput Benchmark: The WRT610N scored 143.1 The WRT320N scored 159.0 The DGL-4500 scored 255.8 The WNDR3700 scored 473.8 On the Maximum Simultaneous Connections Benchmark: (Due to lxChariot license limitations the max is 200) The WRT610N scored 200 The WRT320N scored 200 The DGL-4500 Scored 200 The WNDR3700 Scored 200 On the Chart Plot for Price vs. Performance: Goto: http://www.smallnetbuilder.com/index...uide&chart=119 To see all the scores for the many routers. |

Looks like this year's models have improved. What kind of range does the Netgear have? I have upgraded antennas on my DIR-655, and I get 90% signal strength in a test that's more difficult than their hardest. (I have a 3 story home). None of the Netgear routers cut it for me. External antenna > internal antenna when distance matters.
Tbh, their charts aren't telling the whole story.

yeah, I would have loved to have external antenna but it cost 170 for that from Dlink. Im currently waiting for my router to arrive from newegg. If it rocks, Ill keep it, if it blows return it for the dlink.

I've seen them around rarely for that price, was some up on newegg open box for it. But even something like a 9600GT, 9600GSO, 8800GS, 3870 (maybe 3850), 4830, 4670, and anything else in those ranges, as long as it has 1gb of RAM should be just fine, just a 4850 would be ideal, but any of those others would work fine.

how many netgear products are crap? The reviews on my router were really good but I have some friends who say otherwise.

Most every Netgear consumer router I've tried is crap, tbh. I mean, companies do change, but their past is not that great.

Looking to find a case with bottom mount PSU, preferably no side window, and sideways HDD trays.

Fit and gang,
Guys I'm in trouble. Paid off $400 on my CC only to buy a Corsair Nova 128 SSD. THEN Newegg listed it for $60 cheaper so I bought one from them! Now I'm going to have two of these by the end of the week and need to figure out how I can open both up to play with them and return one for a full credit. One's from Provantage.com and other's from the egg. Help!

I wouldn't take the chance, personally. I would send the more expensive one back without opening it.
