Will an 8500GT run GTA IV?

Questions in the title, if not then what's the cheapest card that would run this?
This is in the UK btw, for a friend, I'll be running it on my 4850.

Any ideas on cards that would then? It's just got to be a cheap card, he doesn't care about manufacturer, I'll post some screenshots of what his 6200le's doing to it later if he uploads them, sound pretty funny.

If this is for the system with a Pentium D as you mentioned in the other thread, the game most likely will not run. Just think Crysis, but a lot more CPU intensive.

Haha, I'll link him to both threads, only reason I specified an 8500 GT was because you can get them for around £30 and he doesn't want playing the game to become expensive.

To play with decent frames at "Medium" specs, he's going to need at least a E5200 at 3ghz, and a 512mb video card with GDDR3 and a 256 bit bus.. minimum! A 4830 or 9800GT would be a medium spec card for this game.

What erocker said TBH. He wont get it playing with a pentium D even if he bought a GTX280. The game's more CPU bound than anything. It'd probably be cheaper for him to buy an xbox 360 and the game than upgrade his PC to a standard that can play the fecker! lol.

He didn't believe me when I said his 6 Series GPU would get raped by it.
Lol Oli, probably would be but he's bought it now.

It will work! You just need to apply the following settings:

1./ 800x640
2./ 8-bit colour
3./ Black and white
4./ Draw distance 0
5./ NPC density 0
6./ FSAA 0 AA 0
7./ vsnyc off
8./ Shadows off
9./ Replace 3D models with bitmap sprites
10./ Use "X" cursor in place of player
11./ HUD off
12./ Water and sky effects off
13./ Textures or plain walls: plain walls
14./ Fog off
15./ Effects off
16./ 3D mode off, "classic mode" graphics: on (a la 2D GTA2)
17./ Keyboard input: off
18./ Mouse control: ignore
19./ Sound: off
20./ VGA/DVI port: unplug
21./ PSU: off

BINGO!

Nah, that's a bit too 3d for those settings, still a bit optimistic for his card though.

Just because hardware is new doesn't make it capable of running some applications. That's why I don't go and buy a Celeron and a mobo with integrated graphics to play Crysis or run Photoshop. You need the proper hardware for the proper applications.

Agreed, I'm just gutted that the hardware grows old so quickly!!! I mean, i have a macbook that's nearly 2 years old, and apart from reduced battery life, it's still good to go!
