Ozz's Forceware Insight and Discussion Thread.

Hey everybody!
Ever see a new Forceware beta come out and think to yourself "Man, I would really like to know whether or not it would be worth the time to upgrade!"
Well I know I have and I've spent a lot of time driver hopping and reinstalling my OS thanks to this pesky problem. So I've started here a place where we can discuss, test, and bench any and all new beta drivers along with and against the WQHL drivers!

To kick off the discussion I'm going to ask...

Has anybody tested the new beta 181.00 drivers against the 180.48 yet? I've been having some trouble with BSODs on the betas, I'm hoping if I hop back that it will cure my problem.

Useful links!

If you have a link that you feel others will find useful, post it and I will add it to the list.

I haven't tried the 181's yet, but I've had better results in games with 180.84's over the .48's.

Really? I haven't tried the .84s yet. To be honest I hadn't realized they were released. I take it they're still in beta?

It actually is quicker because of the customs, I live like 30 minutes from Windsor, and I just drive every time I need to go to Canada for something because customs takes so long with packages.

What about with games? Often times (at least with ati) synthetic scores go down with new releases as real game performance goes up. IMO those programs are no longer relevant to anything and rarely reflect real world performance.

Anybody test the 185.20 drivers themselves yet? I'm going to post some screenies as soon as they're done downloading.

I know how you feel, I went to bed at 5:30 and it feels like my head is in a vice. I'll post DMC4, Crysis, Vantage and some other bench results with both the ambient occlusion on and off when I get them downloaded.

Edit: Let's hope my wifi doesn't crash my computer (dongle isn't 100% compatible with vista

This is a poor comparison because I did change the clocks around, but you usually don't see a 800 point increase from clock changes this small.

so the "new" drivers are useless..lol.. or am I reading this wrong?
I see worse benchmarks in general.
and minimal changes at best, that could just be completely random.
dang..
I was hoping for better drivers.

Maybe, I'm not seeing any gains on my GX2, but a lot of people with GT200 cards are getting huge gains.

I did get gains in DMC4 however.

180.48

185.20

Something to point out also is that the depth of field changed in Crysis too, if you look the leaves on the trees have softer edges, more realistic to looking at something that's ~200m away.
