The RV770 gang!
Thought you guys would be interested in seeing a size, appearance comparison between the RV770 lot. I got a 4850x2 (two 4850s), a 4870, and a 4830. I'll probably be taking some naked shots of the 4870 soon.
As for overclocking, I never messed with the 4850x2 (I don't have the PSU for that guy). For the 4830, here's a little internet pr0n for you guys! A Vantage run at those speeds nets a score of 7058 on my PC. With my old dual 3870s, I scored 7753 with the same system at stock, but outside of the 3dmark (the greatest GAME ever), the two setups performed about the same. I'm sure with a volt mod it could go way higher because with that cooler, I didn't even go past 50C load! At those speeds it wipes the floor with any stock 4850. Talk about great price/performance card. Thank thescavenger for sending that to me. I'm working on seeing what this new 4870 is capable of. A Vantage run at 800/951 nets 8507. Nice jump from the 4830. Edit: Actually, I guess the 4850x2 actually has a code name like R700LE and the 4830 has code name RV770LE...

This is the 512mb model. I really wanted the 1GB version for GTA:4, but I am disgusted at the DRM on the PC version, and my Gamestop had a practically brand new copy used on 360 for $30 (and it was during employee appreciation week, so I got 35% off!).
As promised, here are some nudy shots of this Sapphire card. It doesn't look like it has nearly as good circuitry as the MSI 4830, which is somewhat of a shame. I have noticed from past experiences that Sapphire tends to make cards that are, "just good enough." Although, this cooler is certainly a beast! It actually had some decent thermal grease on it stock, but after some MX-2, this thing doesn't get over 60C with the fan between 40-50% (using Furmark). Also, it looks this card uses Qimonda gDDR5 RAM chips. Although I've noticed some weird issues with it. If I overclock the core or ram any and try to play Crysis / Warhead, my computer hard locks. I start to get tons of artifacts about 5 minutes in and then the machine goes down, but from monitoring the temperature, nothing is getting that hot (even with the fan at 100%). However, I've gone through several Vantage runs at 845/1100 as well as running FurMark stability for 20 minutes and never had a problem. I've also tried 850/1100 in Ubuntu while running 20 minutes of glxgears (hurray for over 36000FPS!) Any ideas? Could it just be these Crytek games giving me grief (and/or Catalyst 8.12?)
