Thermaltake Introduces MeOrb CPU Cooler for HTPCs

Thermaltake releases a new low profile cooler, MeOrb. It is only 47mm in height and can fit in your HTPC chassis. Users now don’t need to worry about the overheat problem will happen to their lovely chassis and CPU.

MeOrb is designed to solve the thermal problem of HTPC. HTPC is very popular in the PC world because it is smaller and it is more stylish to display in a living room. However, the thermal problem can be a headache because the limited space. MeOrb’s low height and good performance can help you to solve this problem.

MeOrb has many attractive features you cannot miss. First, MeOrb is equipped with two heatpipes and mirror coating copper base and they can maximize the transferring speed from the CPU to the aluminum fins. On the other hand, it also has the PWM function. Therefore, it can automatically adjust the fan speed between 800 and 1700 RPM according to the CPU temperature. Thermaltake design team also take care the noise problem. MeOrb’s special fan blade will reduce the turbulence of the air flow. Users will not need to suffer for the annoying noise.

Meorb sounds like a Swedish name.. idk I would rather just slap a Xigmatek S1284 on my HTPC

I agree but I guess this is in case you can't fit a 'tower' sink in your case - I'd still rather use a Scythe shuriken or something though.

What about the Xiggy Apache (if its the cooler I think of). Somehow I trust Xigmatek more than Thermaltake.

Zalman performs good. But its expensive. I own a CNPS9700, its great, but it was damn expensive. Xigmatek S1283 costs less and performs better.

And TT... I dunno, they have that "more bling than power"-attitude in my opinion. Fancy designs and such, but average performance.

I don't look anywhere else when I am wanting high performance heat sinks

I had my 9750 at 1.6v today(or yesterday rather

) and the highest I saw was 59c..

TT is not overly bad at fans but they aren't overly good either. Zalman has pretty good orb coolers but not one for the HTPC crowd except for 7000C for AM2 which can't be bought in NA, I'm not getting the apache from xiggy can't convince myself but I would probably go for the ME orb as I figured an orb based cooler is way better than what I have in here which is just a basic copper base with 2 heatpipes, with a 80mm 5000rpm fan.

I bet the Zalman fans are much better quality than TT's any day. And from using TT fans and Zalmans fans, Zalman fans blow away TT fans with out a problem.

I have one of the orbs from Zalman and there kick ass and silent.
