Which would be better?

Have a work computer that uses DDR2-1006. Only problem is it only has 1 gig of it. I have a couple of sticks of DDR2-800 laying around that i could throw in it.

With the 1 gig 1066 multitasking is very slow. Would I be better off to throw the 2 gigs of DDR2 800 in there?

simply yes, more ram is better, plus you would have dual channel capabilities as well.

If You have 1066 RAM installed...
And 800 installed...

The 1066 will clock down speed to the 800's , so it will work out fine. For Duel Channel though, I believe you need 2 of the same, I dont think a 800 + 1066 will work but I could be wrong, always bought the same RAM lol

Stick with the 2 sticks of DDR2 800. It will have the dual channel advantage, not to mention double the memory.

And FYI speed has no bearing on dual channel!

yeah no problem. Actually even if he was to run one stick of each speed the mobo would just recognize it as dual 800 stix and set them to run in dual channel. With DDR2 they dont even have to be the same size or speed as dual channel has two modes now.
