OK Tom, here's my thoughts....I've considered this myself. i7 is very tempting until you look at the costs involved to buy the good i7 hardware. The 920 will cost you $270, a GOOD i7 board will run you $240+ and a decent set of DDR3 1600 will run you $120+. When I weighed what it costs to upgrade, I just couldn't do it. Not when the PII is rivaling Q9550's. Just not worth it right now in my opinion. Take that with a grain of salt though, tomorrow I may turn around and go completely i7. It's just the way of the hardware addict

Tom, are you just looking for another fix/challenge? I DARE you to give water cooling a shot. That will only cost $200, it's fun, challenging at first, and will serve you well on several future builds.

yes and I will, Will you my computer after my wife kills me. It's a lot harder to hide a water cooler, than a new motherboard , chip and ram lol!! I feel like a crack head. to the untrained eye a computer is a computer. That goes to show you that if ya didn't know better ya wouldn't know what the heck you are using, these rigs are all fast as hell. The truth is I couldn't tell you this wasn't my old Qx9650 at 4.0ghz, with a Rampage mother board and 4 gb of DDR2 1200 if I didn't look. Heck Phenoms feel faster sometimes.

Bah, that's no excuse. My entire water cooling setup fits in my case..

Honestly, I'll probably give i7 or i5 a shot in a few months, after the motherboards drop in price. They are ridiculous right now.

I am also thinking of buying a i7 rig... since a month actually, and I wanted to wait for am3 to come out for comparasion... but I am willing to wait if it'll save me enough money but how long do I have to wait?
