Which Controller works best...
I want to get a controller so I can play some ps2 games, older console games, and badly ported xbox, and xbox360 games (Lost planets for example) on my computer since sometimes keyboard and mouse are just not how the game was ment to be played.
So any suggestions for a controller that would be best for a wide wide range of games, both 2d and 3d, ranging from like... chrono trigger -> lost planet: extreme condition. |

It's a preference thing. Xbox 360 controller feels best for me (really the old xbox was better imo but), unfortunately it's also the most expensive and I couldn't find a cheap knock-off (everyone emulates the ps2 controller, which I hate, no one does xbox). You can round up a wired one for fairly cheap though, or pick up a wireless on the web and then get the adapter.

A lot of controllers have very wide capability. If you like the 360 controller for example, get one of those for pc. With emulation it's often easy to map buttons with a controller as the same with any other game. it really comes down to how much you want to spend and what you like. I have a Nyko airflo and it works when I need it to.

I like my Logitech Cordless RumblePad II's. Good for ports like The Last Remnant or emu's, along with the benefit of being wireless.

Will a 360 controller work well with ps2 games? I could spend a lot on a controller but I don't really want to. Is wireless really worth it if I'm on the PC? I mean I always use a wired mouse and keyboard so why would I want to use a wireless controller?

You suggested the logitech rumble pad.... I love logitech, they have really good customer support. It says best for ps2/ps3 games, but It still should handle xbox 360 games fairly well right? |

I had that chilistream controller and it was just a pain in the dick most of the time. I find myself using the Logitech Rumblepad for most of my games even though I have a 360 wireless controller. I play alot of sport games so when I buy a new one I generally try to use the 360 first but just get tired of spending 30min configuring the controller when I could be 30min into the game. So after 5min if I can't use the 360 controller I jump right back to the Logitech rumblepad and never have to configuring anything.

I heard the biggest problem is not with it on the PC. The biggest problem is there is now PS button due to sony not releasing PS3 specs when logitech made it. Let's see if this is a good waste of $15, I might just resell it to continue getting my rep up on ebay if it turns out to be a fail product (as in hard to use) I doubt it though, since I'm only using it for ps2emu, some older games such as chronotrigger, and stuff like that. Thanks guys, you've been really really helpful. I'll make sure I post if it's good or bad. If you don't hear from me then assume it is good and I am gaming. |

So I am back.
The chill stream controller is working great. It actually does cool my hands. Pros: It is cheap ($15) It works without drivers for me It does keep your hands cool You can show it off and be like "hey, my hands aren't sweaty, haha" Cons: Only one I noticed so far is that on high air flow setting it can get a bit loud. But I have A700's so once I put them on I can't hear it. Plus there is a low setting if noise bothers u, or and off setting. |
