2048 x 1152 LCD

I was looking for a new monitor & wanted to get one that has a higher Resolution of 2048 x 1152, The 3 that I've been looking at are.
SAMSUNG SyncMaster 2343BWX

Dell SP2309W 23

Acer B273HU bmidhz 27"

The 27" has good specs & really tempting for the price,, but a 23" looks great at 2048x1152,, the text is perfect for me,, the 22" that I have now is nice but the Resolution is too low at 1680x1050, it should be 1920x1200

Just looking for your thoughts on this,, or maybe one of you have one of the above monitors & could help with so Q??

Edit: Id say go with the dell monitor, the acer looks far too low priced to be decent. I have a samsung 22" monitor myself, which is very good, and a nicely finished unit, no complaints with it, although i must say that the dell you pictured here seems to be geared specifically towards high definition video and/or gaming content, therefore may well perform better than the samsung - and on paper the dell wins with better contrast ratio and response time.

that tekpanel is crazy,
the dell does look good but it has a glossy screen, glare & the mirror thing with seeing things behind you is a big turn off, I just wish there was a store I could go to & look at them all, so far only the samsung 23" I seen at micro center.

16:10 is probably recommended for a computer monitor.
16:9 is usually an HDTV standard.
Keep in mind that a 16:10 monitor can do both 16:9 and 16:10 functions but
a 16:9 is not capable of 16:10 also.
I recommend going for 1920x1200, which can easily be gotten for under $300, shipped.

Im considering selling my 24" for something else like that 23"

I just cant decide if i want to go to something like the samsung 2343bwx or something like the acer h223 23"

I had a 22" CRT iiyama vision master 510 pro, with a max res of 2048x1152 when I watched movies & played some games I would switch to the max,, Now when I was at micro center & seen a 23" @ 2048x1152 it was really nice,, it had great color, white whites & black blacks, also crisp text,, the text was also very readable, not too small, The only thing that stopped me from buying it was the stand, no swivel or height adjustment, other then that it was a winner. the only place I could find it with the HAS Stand was legendmicro for $170 Refurbished. only 90 day Warranty. I'm really picky when it comes to monitors,,

Well I picked up the Acer B273HU, & it's really awesome, So far I have played 3 of my favorite games on it that gave me 2048 x 1152 rez.

I'm running 8800GT's SLI & have no trouble playing @ that rez so far,, & MOVIES are insane
to watched at 720 & 1080p,, both look amazing.

I personally own the samsung 23" and i love i say 100% go for it, it crisp clean picture and such a great High Res games look awesome. Best part its cheaper then most 1080P monitor yet a offers a Higher Res.

I've seen the Samsung 2048 x 1152 in store. And it is OK. But the quality of the output could be better... I have SyncMaster 204Ts, SyncMaster 213T, SyncMaster 171P, XL20 and an older Eizo.

TBH, the Eizo has the best quality, then the 171P, then the XL20, then the 213T, then the 204Ts.

If you are working on your PC for text and for hours, an IPS or S-IPS panel really is worth the difference. IMO, it is better than the higher (overdrive) contrasts of cheaper panels.

What I would REALLY LIKE is a 2560x1600 in a 24" format. 30" is too big, but at 24" (or 2x at 20") you would have very high resolution, perfect for viewing pictures and perfect for high DPI fonts.

I have the dell and its amazing! Love it so much. Plenty of inputs, usb hub, camera and mics, and fancy touch button interface etc. Nice adjustable stand and the colours are fantastic!

holy sh!t, took you 6 months to buy the monitor? im like "another LCD topic, YAY" read the first post and realized I needed to notify the user that 1920x1200 is the preferred for a computer monitor, and that the resolution of which he spoke was 16:9, and was not a higher resolution, just a different aspect ratio. Then I look at the fourth post, and saw my very old post.

I do agree with 3870x2. For regular work, general use, the 1920x1200 is better. Always try to get the max in the "y".

I like the 2048x1152. I just bought that Dell, and I'm liking it. The downsides are the reflective screen (which isn't that noticeable really), and considerably worse vertical viewing angles than the ASUS that it replaced (but I almost always look dead on to the monitor anyway). The good news is that since most webpages and programs are built to support 1024x768 monitors, I am now able to put two 1024 images side by side, which is great for development. I get the dual screen advantage, while taking up the space of one monitor. Not to mention, not having to deal with the stupid rules about Blu-Ray and dual monitors.

Also, I upgraded my 4870 512mb to the 1GB version, and it handles COD:WAW maxed out again, but at the new resolution!

I've seen 24'' to 27" screens @ 1920x1200, everything looks to oversized to me, 16.9 is awesome & BurnoutParadise let me choose it, also movies look better @ 16.9.
for a 27" LCD this is the best one out there IMHO.
Also I would have to say the samsung 2048x1152 you seen in the store was using the vga cable not the dvi, the 22" samsung I have is night & day different using vga or dvi cable.

Good advice. Absolutely MUST use DVI cable, not VGA. Why-o-why do GPU makers still do VGA out. The pennies saved on the port and cabling is very small compared to the quality improvement of DVI.

But that is consumer pricing for you... lower quality everything to save $5.
