Computer-Lagging
So recently about few days ago my pc started to lag. Like suddenly~ It lags on a regular basis like even in window or when I open a program or when turning on the pc. When openning a program it takes a long time to open it, for example like after I turned on real1player the movie seems to lag. I couldn't even open the internet explorer. Then when trying to close it, everything becomes not responding.
I don't know what the problem is, but thanks if anyone would help out. |

It sounds like something im going through at the moment tbh.
My primary HD is in dire need of replacing, moving a 360mb 'media file' from my C: drive over to either D: or E: which are my game and mass storage drives, it takes between 6-10min compared to the usual 60sec.I've had a few crashes recently and by co-incidence I started defragging the drives just before having the problems, and that doesnt bring up any flashing lights or any warnings however it takes forever to do my 80gb C drive, 5min or so to do my 80gb D: drive and roughly the same for my 200gb E: drive. One thing i'd definately start doing is making sure anything you want/need is definately available off that HD just incase she blows. It certainly sounds very similar to my situation, XP takes forever to load up, maybe 5 times longer than its ever taken, to the point where you wonder if its froze up. Running said 'Media Files' from C: is laughable, but once on another drive its happy as larry. I've also had strange load-up errors completely errelavent to the HD which im guessing is down to access issues. Personally i've been moving files across from HD to HD although im waiting on a few things to finish downloading which could take a couple days and then i'll be considering chucking that drive and setting up a partition on the 200gb drive, though im more tempted to ride it out and hopefully buy a replacement primary drive in a couple weeks time which is something i'd planned to do in a couple months time and move to a RAID configuration. If anyone knows of some software which could identify if this is the case, for both our cases, it'd be appreciated. |

I did that several times, pressing Ctrl+Alt and Del, the cpu is changing non-stop, few days ago was around 100% now its on a rate of 4-10%. Other than that the processes for internet explorer is taking up 80k.
One thing is that to open a program takes along time but to close it, runs normally but strangely the processes still shows the program running while it was closed. |

Maybe a hardware problem:
How many Megabytes of ram do you have?

It sounds like the work of a virus, spyware or just general crapware.
Download a program called 'hijackthis': http://www.majorgeeks.com/download3155.html When you open the program, click "Do a system scan and save a logfile". Then close the program, and post the log as an attachment for me to look at.

Hi PC1 in windows XP right click on my computer and go down to properties.
Here you can see if a you are using Service Pack 2 ( Really important) And at the bottom you can see the amount of RAM you have. How old is your computer and what operating System is it? Are you using a virus protection software? Another thing you could check for us to help you is how much Hard drive space you have left? You can check this by going into My computer and right clicking on your c:\ and going down to properties. Here it will tell you how much you have in total and how much you have used. I agree with infrared it sounds like you are getting a little junked up with spyware but we would need this other info to check that. Let us know what you find.
