And if you can test your power receptacle make sure you dont have a power issue such as during day your power is at say 120hz at 20 amps by 110volts and at night when demand is low 95hz at 20 amps by 110 volts etc...I know it sounds strange but where i live we have a city owned power company that is only tied into the U.S. national power grid by two main lines witch switch's at about midnight when the city power goes idle and we get our power from Ohio Edison or the national grid, occasionally (and im not alone on this) some sensitive appliance's do strange things like my LCD tv which would make a high pitched bad capacitor sound-energy efficient lights would briefly change color dim-brite anyway long story really short i got a few expensive steady power-power strips no issue since-anyway just a thought-when it happened it was brief but could play havoc on sensitive electronics with capacitors-easy check with a electrical testor

When a cpu i working hard at very high clocks and voltage its common to hear some kind of squealing sound, same with video cards. I experienced that with a lot of different hardware, i cannot pin point the exact cause but i know its normal...

I dont know. Just a thought-like i said when my city power switch's we get some strange happenings. Just thought if such a thing was happening there maybe its affecting the capacitors in his power supply-I know its really far out there But he did say only after midnight which made me think of that-its kinda like when a transformer goes ya know just before the back up comes on you get a flicker in the lights and my Tv well it makes a 10 second sound like the old crt's did that real high pitched sound anyway i bought "steady power" power strips-battery and capacitor thing that gives you a constant uninterupted power-for upto an hour after power outage upto 1000watts-just in case and i've had no issue's since well with the stuff plugged into the strips

From my own experience, it may also be static electricity. Could be built up accross the caps on the motherboard, or possibly in the PSU of your rig. Plug out all cables, including power cables. Hold power button for 10-15secs, hook it back up and try again. That would discharge a lot of the static. Definitly worth a shot.

Keywords: buzzing hizzing weird strange sound computer Windows 7 Aero
--- I have the same problem with a "hizzing" sound. I just installed Windows 7 on a brand new computer (i7 Quad Core, two ATI Radeon 4850, PT6 ASUS) The first time i noticed it was when I switched user to a temp account. Whenever I moved window, resize or sometimes scrolling I can hear a sound from the computer. It is NOT the speakers (no speakers connected) and it doesnt matter if I mute the sound or not. It is not the harddrive, since I only use SSD. Im guessing processor. In any case, the sound disappeared when I logged on to my normal account. I couldnt understand why, until I switched my normal account to using the Aero theme. As soon as I had Aero going, the sound was there. So, when enabeling Aero the irritating buzzing sound well appear. Im guessing the graphics card has more to do when using Aero, but why the sound appears at all beats me. |

I've never heard of RAM making noise before
usually it's a capicator, or a coil

I just ran 3DMark, and as expected, there was a LOT of noise.
Sounded like a harddrive that was failing almost, and sometimes a fizzing sound, almost like something was burning up. THis needs to be addressed. I cant have that sound when I play games... |
