Need Professional grade headphones with mic

I have to purchase 12 sets of headphones with mic capabilities. They have to be extremely durable and very comfortable on the ears along with good sound quality. Last year in Iraq, we managed to break every pair and got stuck using $5 headsets purchased from Iraqi vendors. That really sucked.

Please send me any suggestions. I have been looking at SENNHEISER's. Anything better?

Sennheisers are pretty good. Logitech is also a good, reliable brand for pretty much anything.

Either of those two would serve you well.

Sennheisers are known for their superb audio quality and comfort. You really can't go wrong with Senns. I'm not too sure about their reputation when it comes to microphones.

What about sturdiness? I have a pair of Creative Labs Fatality headphones which sound great, feel wonderful on the ears but are extremely flemzy. They feel like they would break very easy. Being sturdy I think will be the most important quality that I'm looking for. Are the Senn's very sturdy?

From what I know, yes they're very sturdy.

Which headphones are you using? The Creative Fatal1ty Gaming Headset priced at around $40? I was planning on getting those Monday, but I'll switch over to the $23 Plantronics Gamecom 1 if the Fatal1ty is flimsy.

That would be them. Extremely comfortable, but extremely flimsy.

I have a pair of plantronics gamecom1's,i've had them for two years and they still work fine and have not broken,even with my hamfisted handling.

One idea for you is the logitechs, look at the cordless models.

While they're more expensive, the fact that you're removing the cables removes the #1 source of broken headpones.

(I dont reccomend cordless in other brands, with logitech you at least know you're getting decent battery life, and good (interference free) range)

my friend has these and i havent heard any complaints from him, and the mics always clear on my end.


Edit: his comments: He has walked around the house talking to me in teamspeak, and unless the fridge got between him and his PC (which is 2 rooms away from the kitchen) i could always hear him. He has also said the feature of raising the mic to mute is very handy, as its a good way to turn the mic off and make sure people cant hear you.

Yeah, I suggested Logitech. They seem to be reliable with everything they make.

Wireless headphones are out of the question. Too much of a security risk and not authorized to be used. We break them mainly because of too many testorone filled guys who get pissed for one reason or a other and throw them. Or just plain stupid and sit on them.

Although pricey, the sennheiser pc 350's are pretty good. It would be cheaper to get headphones and a mic separate, but it may be a bit of a hassle

i personally use the plantronics gamecom 367,sound quality is great and i havent had any complaints about the mic ,they are made with metal and plastic they seem to be sturdy but they are HUGE...but they dont hurt the ears like my last logitech set

if you need professional anything stay away from brands like creative and logitech.
go with SENNHEISER.
go with companies that have long tradition in making audio equipment.

Make your own - rip the electronics out of a decent pair and get some metal to a workshop.

or.... get some ear muflles (whatever they're called) and bolt/ glue whatever the electronics into them. Those things are sturdy and will last people sitting on them etc. Personal headphones just won't last abuse, the plastic they're made from is just too brittle.

alternately search for "ïndestructable headphones" on google - you'll get plenty of hits

These are just what I'm looking for but I don't think I can justify spending $250 per headset. I do like the metal bars on the top with the sliding leather strap. Those headsets look very sturdy.
