Mozilla Firefox Updated to 3.0.8
Mozilla today released an important security update to Firefox. With sub-version 3.0.8, The browser has been patched for two critical security vulnerabilities, which are all that make it to this release.
The first vulnerability, titled "Arbitrary code execution via XUL tree element" could allow attackers to compromise a box by using a browser crash to run arbitrary code. The second one titled "XSL Transformation vulnerability" is where attackers get to use browser crashes caused by XSL stylesheets during XSL transformation, to run arbitrary code. For more information, refer to the Security Advisories page for Firefox. Existing Firefox versions will be updated to version 3.0.8 automatically by default. Firefox 3.0.8 can be downloaded from the Mozilla Website. |

its incredibly exciting, this news.
I'm glad FF gets constant security updates. Confirms it as my browser choice.

hells yea, i got that update i thk today or yesterday. luv FF so much more than IE, cause it always gets these updates, and i like how customizable it is with themes and whatnot. and the layout of the general buttons like refresh, back, home are all together not spread out like on IE. The top bar also takes up less space than IE so you can view more of a webpage.
Now what is special about google chrome?

Big Fan
Been using FF since just before V1 and Kept IE untill extension IEtab came about , havent looked back. My personal opinion on chrome is that it is faster to load up and download pages, but I can't put my own liking to it as FF.

Been using FF since v1 too, love it. I hate when I have to use IE6 on other people's PCs or the ones in school because no tabs. I also love the GMail Notifier add-on, pops up saying I have a new email when I get one
![]() I'm currently using v3.1b3 and it doesn't have that neat CTRL + TAB window thing, v3.1b1 had it, if I remember correctly it looks a bit like this except with your tabs:

If they come out this fast with security updates then in a few weeks they will be forced to bring out the 3.1 from beta stage.
They are running out of version numbers: 3.0.9 is the last possible one.

they could simply extent it to 3.0.8.1 or .3,.4.,.5 and so on.

I have to laugh at how unsecure Firefox is. Every update addresses security issues. Im not saying other browsers are better or worse, but you simply dont brag about something that was recently patched up to continue being used. Kinda reminds me of a punctured bicycle tyre.
Im glad that the Firefox team are constantly updating their browser, but it seems to me like they need to scrap the whole thing and start from the ground up all over again. |

i agree with what Dark, simply bc an update is released to fix a security issue doesn't mean a browser is more insecure than another. It'd be like saying IE is more secure because it doesn't have as many updates? no it's because they are slower at updating than FF, does IE even have a built in pop-up blocker like FF does? i haven't used IE in years so i don't know

![]() nobody's bragging about anything -- it's a security update, IE has them everytime they update, too. so does chrome, and so does opera, and so does safari, and so on, and so on if you see a browser not constantly telling you about their security updates, it just means that they're leaving the security holes open

Why is there even such thing as a "Browser War"? They're just stuff you use to view the internet... and stuff. Oh well, let them kill each other xD.

Simply put: Everything has a hole somewhere at all times. It's a GOOD thing that they are finding and patching these exploits as quickly and as often as they do, and it definitely doesn't make it any less secure than any other browser. |
