I had a problem with my PC over the weekend. I suspected that ATI Tool was causing a problem with the installation of the new Catalyst 6.2. I uninstalled ATI Tool v0.24 and installed the new Catalyst (I later found out it wasn’t ATI Tool but my Anti-virus software was still running in the background). When I attempt to reinstall ATI Tool, I’m getting an error immediately when the installation starts (using the repair option). The installation program is detecting a previous installation.
“Error opening file for writing blank\ATITool.exe click abort to stop the installation retry to try again or ignore to skip this file” If I skip the file, I’m getting the same message with the blank\ATIToolHooks.tmp file. After the installation the app. cannot be found by windows. I tried uninstalling the application but nothing happens and every reinstall gives me the same results. What did I do wrong on the uninstall or reinstall?

Alright I guess no one was willing or able to assist in this problem or maybe I posted in the wrong place.
I must admt I became impatient and decided to be a little creative in working out this problem out on my own. At first I tried to restore Windows XP to the previous week when I knew the ATITool was working. This didn’t work because I had installed updates to my antivirus software. I also had installed the new Catalyst Control Panel and drivers for my video card. I also tried uninstalling the updates and reinstalling the older versions of the software and drivers. I then restored back a month which caused catastrophic results were my OS would lock up on startup. I undid the restore and got my system back up and running again. I decided to boot up my system in safe mode and attempted to install the ATITool. I don’t know what possessed me to try it but it did resolve the problem. I’m back up and running and able to use the new ATITool 0.25 Beta 13 without problems.
