TPU Contest Design and question thread

Post your suggestions and or questions in this thread for the TPU Design Your Graphics Card Body Graphics Contest

Comments are also welcome; Good Luck

Important Update!

We have decided that we will allow a small number of revisions to existing designs of the original three submissions... the final revision will count as your entry not the previous one.

For example you spelled TPU wrong and posting a revision as an update to post number xxx will become one of your three submissions...
you must post that it is a revision and the post number of the previous entry.

For those that email your entry please note it is a revision

Well its about time we have another contest. I'm going to love to see the results and the winning design!

Thank you for listening!!!

I have to ask, will the winning design be printed and attached to the card being sent out? Sorry just read this:

Quote:
If you have the skills, and the creative thinking, put it to work on designing the body graphics sticker. The winning design chosen by a panel of judges from AMD and Techpowerup, will be used by HIS to develop a special, exclusive graphics card, which will be sent to the winner.
WOW I'm very impressed!! Thats a hell of a contest!!! Great Job TPU!!!

Thank you for listening(see post from 3 weeks ago)

The winner will be contacted after the pre-defined date to post is over. As winner, only your nickname and design will be released to the public.

only if your design is picked as one of the three winners we will need a name & shipping address...

I have posted in the main thread, but it seems that moderator cleared. Never mind.

I think that dimensions in "Shroud sticker dimension specifications" file need to be more precise. Some things that I'd like to know are marked red in this picture:

GJ both TPU and HIS, great contest.

i'll ask for a better image but i think thats all what board partners get. load the pdf in photoshop and use the measure tool to get the dimensions you are looking for. that should be sufficiently accurate

I think its quite obvious that stormseeker joined TPU just for this seeing that it was his first post..I'm assuming he is some sort of Profesional Graphic Artist by looking at the picture he posted...is that fair when you say "active TPU members are eligable" do you mean actual ACTIVE tpu members or do you just have to have an account here? Because the chance of anyone I know interested in entering this contest beating a Pro Graphic Designer is slim...IMO it kinda ruins the contest but, of course, its you decision.

I have been reading TPU forums for a very long time, as a "lurker" I am not pro designer, but I think that I've got some talent and I like to design. Now, here is why such contests are organized: to make better marketing and cooperation for both TPU and HIS, which brings more readers and bigger number of monthly visits for TPU, and some brand-building/marketing for HIS. And the prize contest is the easiest way to do so, making everyone happy: TPU, HIS and users who win something. When it comes to "beating the pro designer", all designs will be judged by quality, not by how long someone has been in the forums or postcount.

Good luck to all.

Ditto to SkyKast comments - Eligibility should be based on a minimum number of posts at start of contest (4/2/09), like say 50 posts, yea that should be plenty!

Stop right there guys and read the rules please

Only registered members of TPU are eligible.

It maybe possible for anyone to win ... we're not looking for perfection and quality but more so in the theme and how you lay it out ... a simple design could win just as easy as one created by a graphic designer.. keep in mind there are three prize to win

Good point, only thing needed is a good idea and few basic techniques which can be learnt for an hour or two.

Be aware that TPU logo stored in a PSD file is a vector drawn image, so you can upscale it as much as you want.

I made a template for everyone willing to enter. You can load the selection via Channels > HD4890, or using magic wand tool with black layer. I made a few measurements, but I would like if someone could recheck them. Image is print-friendly (300DPI); you can download it here: http://uploadpsd.com/file/57356.psd

So it ends May 4th. Plenty of enough time for myself. Will work on this but it may only be one submission from me. I have no questions but just wondering....

If I upload the PSD and password protect it in a .ZIP archive, who would I PM the password to? Urlyin or W1zz?
